We were offered and took an interesting opportunity.
We are in a small town on the coast North of Boston. Population - under 7000 in the winter. Over 25k in the Summer.
A man in town is organizing a town Reunion. No class year, just everyone who has ever lived here is invited. It is an outdoor event, on a Saturday in July. He will have locally made soda, beer, wine. Local restaurants supplying food. Local bands playing music. There will be a slide show of people who have died. Just a big ole' outdoor picnic. He estimates attendance at 1000+.
Anyway, he came by to meet us because I've been actively promoting it on FB. He suggested we sponsor the water table. We decided to do it. A big sign with our logo (at no cost to us). We can display our brochures and put stickers on the water bottles. For $250, we will have our name out at the biggest townie party evah! Including many ex-townies who may come back for vacations.
We'll see how it pans out.
Suggestions? Should we have giveaways? Raffle?

Do you send newsletters? I would definitely have a sign up for info jar - only those wanting info would sign up is the premise. AND I would have a prize to be drawn from that jar - not necessarily a freebie, but something that pertains to your B & B with your name/logo on it if possible. I would jump on it also.
We have a Turkey Trot in my town. 2014 will be the third year I sponsored @ $250. I also throw in the room for the timekeeper who is a vegan. It (in my case) does not generate anything that I know of, but it benefits 4-H which I do and it does get my logo on a lot of shirts plus is community support. They had over 500 runners in 2013 and expect as many as 1000 this year. It takes place on Thanksgiving morning.
Your event will be your target audience - people in and from town. The ones who may need a place to stay when they come back and the people who will need beds for their company, overflow or rather not at MY house. Cool beans!!!!!

When I get round to it I have a bowl of key rings for people to take, on the basis that when they get home they'll probably chuck a business card in a draw and forget about it, but if you give them a key ring they'll always have your details to hand.
I buy blanks off e b ay by the box, print my own inserts and put them together.

Business card magnets seem to be very popular for us....I like the key chain idea too. Best we ever got from a business was a thumb drive!

Definitely key rings - dead cheap and we give away tons - I would print little chits ie name, phone number and email for the prize draw jar ie free night or set prize on the day like a hamper or something - all people you can add to your mailing list.
