My daughter and her boyfriend arrived with his daughter Tuesday. Starting Wednesday morning, they power washed the paint off the front porch, then scraped what remained, power washed the house, steps, wall, decorative balls, and then she mowed the grass. Last night they installed the new smoke/carbon detectors and new toilets seats in the bathrooms. While they were power washing, I took his daughter (18 but about 8 or 9 I think and a really sweet girl) out to the far to feed 5 lbs of carrots to the camel. On the way back I was going to show her the park and because we were talking I forgot to pay attention and found one of our lovely WV potholes. Coming down the hill from showing her the upper part of the park, I heard a squishing sound I did not like so stopped to check. Yep - FLAT! Get out the toy tire and the jack and find I cannot get ME low enough to get the jack where it belongs! Jeff, help! Oh, they also put down indoor/outdoor carpet (like grass) to replace the shingles that were on the back deck - found them to be holding the water and starting to rot the deck (they even bought the carpet).
I hated to call him when he was power washing but.... And then just as he was almost finished, a gas company truck came into the park - if he had been 20 minutes sooner... I know Lou-Lou would have changed it for me. Oh well. Then K and I came back to the house and mixed up the muffins I needed this morning for the Health Fair (fat-free Morning Glory) - I baked and delivered them this morning.
Today they painted the porch and my wrought iron railing. Then took DH out to his gun club to play with their toys. (She is a cop and he is a fireman.) While they were gone, K helped me clean out the storage room for the Spring rearrange and dig out some stuff to send back for the other twin. They leave in the morning. ALL of us are exhausted!
Now I have to come up with a project for my son when he comes through next month on his way to Finland. They will be here for about 2 days.
I am one lucky Mom! Yes, I am bragging.
