Has anyone else here received snooping emails, rather than interaction via the board? It appears that someone is having trouble respecting the privacy of members.

What do you mean?
Keep in mind, too, that spammers sometimes hit the board and do silly things before they can be crushed like the bugs they are.

Instead of asking on the forum, I received email via the system asking about something that was said on here.

Ah. Well, feel free to ignore the email of you want. Or answer the question in public on the thread that prompted it.
The email should show you the name of the poster and their email address. You sort of know who it is. Unless it's completely a blind (like mine). But it wasn't me... You know that.
Sometimes people do that because they think the answer might be too revealing as to who you are.
Sometimes people are just nosy.
Handle it how you want.
My guess would be no harm was meant.

Dear Jon,
I am sorry that I contacted you with question that would reveal your location. What I did goes agaisnt the spirit of the forum. I can understand how what I did violated your privacy.
I am still learning the ropes of this forum, and I will put more thought into future private messages I send.
I'm used to ham radio, where one is chided for taking up space talking about ancillary things in a group.
Sorry,
Evans.

You may want to post a 'Hi, my name is...' thread to introduce yourself.
Of course Jon panicked, you just showed up here and you started off by emailing off the forum.
That and immediately posting links to videos will get you the stink eye pretty quickly.

it would depend on what was asked? - ie who are you and what is your location so I can sell you rubbish - would not be on!

Hi Jon. That's the point of a forum, to ask where others can learn from it. There are a few things about netiquette.... introduce yourself and feel free to ask anything. You may not get the answer you want, but conversations on here can get off-topic, never seen anyone angry about that around here, though.
I have no problem answering (for the most part) on here, but I get upset (and others) when you try to break the anonymity of the forum.
