If all goes as planned and scheduled, this will be my last post as an innkeeper. We are scheduled to close on selling our inn at 10:30 this morning and are about 75% moved out of our quarters and in the process of turning things over to the new owners. It's been a fun ride with both ups and downs over the last 11 1/2 years (I 'met' several innmates here electronically on a forum that predates innspiring) so it is a bittersweet leaving but I am ready not to do this every single day.
I hope to keep my hand in the business with some innsitting work that I have lined up already and will look at expanding that, but not until after the summer. My DH was asked to increase his software consulting hours for a company that he free lances for earlier this year, so we should be able to stay partially employed for a while. We are also building a house (right next door to the Inn) and the process of doing that in a historic district will occupy us for a year. I expect to keep a lot of my volunteer and tourism work going for awhile, as well. I expect that I will find that I never really had time to do it all before, and I'll still be busier than I want to be.
I do love this forum and its participants, and am really grateful that swirt was able to put this together after other less-than-satisfying experiences. Power to Innspiring - long may our mailbox flag wave! Keep your fingers and toes crossed for us that my next post will be as an innsitter...

I'm crying even tho I know we're friends and that part isn't ending.
Best wishes. You know where I live, don't be a stranger.

From my own innkeeping perspective, I would like to thank you for being a voice of reason on this forum, professional, innspiring to the umpteenth degree!
You are more than an innkeeper, you are a leader not just here but in our industry, and for that I am grateful to call you my innmate.

How exciting for both of you! Yes indeed you will be busier than ever..take that from a retired innkeeper. It is bittersweet I know but the best is still ahead and we are still good friends so keep in touch! Best wishes!!!!

Thanks for being such an innspiration in those earlier days. We started up as people here were leaving that other forum. When I came up for air, it took a little while to find this one (but not long!), so glad I did. If you're ever in SW WA, Please stop in!

Thats great! Now a new chapter of your life will begin. We hope you will still stick around and be a part of this wonderful group!

Congratulations! It has taken a while, but all things happen as they are supposed to. May your next phase in life be as fulfilling or better.

Absolutely! We can always use, as JB said, someone who is "a voice of reason on this forum, professional, innspiring to the umpteenth degree!"

Best wishes for the next chapter of your life. Hope your construction plans go well and that your paperwork stays manageable. Even though my B&B is not really on the way to anywhere else, the welcome mat is always out.

Congratulations and all the best on your transition to occasional inn sitter.

I think the addition to the ranks of an experiences and fully competent innsitter is a total asset to the industry! just wish you were in the UK! DH and I could do with a week off! lol

Wishing you the VERY BEST with all your future plans. Don't be a stranger here on the forum. You are loved and we all still have lots we can learn from you.

You have been a voice of wisdom for all of us! Wishing you all the best in your new endeavors...don't look back!

Congratulations muirford!!! That is great news for you. I know, that once you make the decision to sell... it can't go fast enough... errr maybe that was just me ;)
I have greatly appreciated all of your contributions here and hope that you will continue to share what you know so well.
Best wishes and good luck with the next chapter.
