Google's page speed insights says my website could be a lot faster.
For me, the page hangs before loading, meaning I am waiting for the page to load for a noticeable amount of time. The slide show shows multiple images stacked on top of each other and the navigation bar doesn't load.
One thing I have removed, which has helped, is the google map. Next up is Google analytics which I really don't use.
There are a ton of things it says I should fix, most of which I don't even know where to find.
So, working on what I can... Photos. It's telling me to compress all my photos. So, just use the compress feature on my photo software or use one of the online 'losslessly' compressors?
Pita as I have to reload every stupid photo.
Help!

Hi The new Striking Multi FLEX has been tested to load really quickly.
There's nothing you can do about some of the jquery stuff. Though you might install WP Cache plugin. That way once someone comes to the site, It doesn't have to reload...it stays in memory.
And yes, compress photos etc. However, when you send your site to get google maps, google analytics can call up other things like TA, FB, etc, this all takes time and slows loading.
To me when I view your site it comes in quickly. Again...all depends on connections as well.
And, many of the things are for mobile devices like "tap" targets. On the other hand your visitor experience score is great :)
I am sure someone else will have some technical comments :)

I use the Smush It WordPress plugin. It reduced my website's existing photo sizes, and automatically optimizes photo sizes for everything new I upload. (I cannot post a link to Smush It because when you put the two words of the name together in a link, it spells one of Swirt's no-no words so the link gets ripped apart!)
The photos still LOOK as big and sharp as ever, but the file size is optimized...somehow.
Do I know if it's really helping or not? No. It says it is, it's highly rated, and I assume it's helping, and I need all the help I can get!

Giving up now. I just compressed all the photos on the home page down to email size images and ran the page speed again. The page is slower. It's saying I can compress those same photos down by 80% more.

Maybe a plug in would work.

My suggestions:
Get rid of your snow scene on your header. Replace it with a room photo and the one with the two adirondacks. Or the static one below put one of those in there as that one is too similar to the green one on the slider.
The food photo is too in your face, can you use your famous one, you know the one I speak of in its place?
On the home page you see the state assoc logo twice since it is already on the footer - I would use that valuable real estate in another way.
None of this helps load time. I would move half of it off the home page, the calendar and more to make it faster.

Wait, DH was in the Navy for 6 years, 4 months and 28 days? That's it! I always hear talk like he is a Navy man, he was a bench warmer! haha He will get mad at me for saying that.

Didn't realize the state logo was there twice. See how blind we get to our own sites!
It's not the text that is slowing it down it's the coding and the photos. I don't think google likes slide shows either.

Post your coding comments to the Theme FORUM and ask James or Paul if there is a way to adjust. I bet they help you. Though I know they claim their theme is one of the fastest loading out there and honestly their stats shown agree. So I don't know what to tell you.

Hi,
I would love to take a look at some of the technical stuff behind your website, but unfortunately there is no link to it :)
I know that veterans here know your website, but I don't, so there's that.

a goal. It is performed either as a hobby or to represent a social setting for the
betterment of society. The design is just the opposite,
