O.K. this is opening a new thread, for those who want to post an opening here. I will start with what I would like:
Northwoods mid-west. Would love to find an older couple/teachers? Our town is very small and there is little for teens to do.
Seeking one or two conscientious workers to help for the summer with housekeeping and other misc. jobs. Approximately 20 flexible hours per week, $12.00 per hour with housing available on site.
Hours will require weekend work from 11-3pm as needed. Additional days/hours will vary. Must be responsible and have a strong work ethic. Duties include changing and cleaning guest rooms. This is active work and includes scrubbing showers/toilets/ floors, vacuuming, bed making and more. Must be able to climb stairs, carry linens and be on your feet much of the day.
We have an historic building and motel on 20 lakefront acres with kayaks, boats and beach. Access to Great Lake beaches and North Country Trail nearby. If you love the outdoors and love to clean this is for you!

For any aspirings out there, we would also be more than willing to share our experiences and work with guests and bookings. This could be a great opportunity to live it day to day over the summer, and decide if this is what you would like to do.

Yup, bringing out the big guns...my favorite time of day is twilight when the sunlight turns the white birches out front gold...MAGIC.

I also did a share adding "I know this is legit!"

I just did a 2 hour job fair. 1 woman stopped at my table and asked what kind of job I had. I told her it was housekeeping. She asked, 'it's cleaning?' I said yes and she walked away.
What tables got the most business? Outdoor work on a farm and the movie theater.
One woman had full time, full benefits jobs. (200 of them!) And she had no takers.
I would bet my job paid more than any other job in the room other than one manager position. No one even asked.
Another odd thing was everyone was surprised I owned the business I represented. Of course there weren't a lot of 'non corporation' people there. Most were brand name businesses.
And, how many people who live in my town asked where we're located? Every stinkin' one of them. And when I said, 'we're right next to x hotel' they all said, every stinkin' one of them, 'I drive by there everyday!'
We've been here longer than that hotel but no one sees this place!

When I opened the forum today the first two threads said:
"Help Wanted" and "Please Help!"

Facebook over 1,000 people have viewed the post. A few inquiries for lurkers here. I think the problem is that no one seems to think that inn keeping involves a lot of work. "Why is it hard?" one asked. Seems to be an idea out there of chatting with guests on the verandah. Sigh. I also have been in contact with some inn sitters. 155 day, one paid day off, .55 mile and not surprisingly, no, they didn't do housekeeping either....

Did you try craigslist?
Dh tells every applicant it's not really that hard but it's repetitive.
We just talked over a class we're going to do after we retire... What they don't tell you about innkeeping.
