My husband is hosting the Innkeepers' Association meeting this month. Next Tuesday. Hosting includes a meeting space, lunch and a tour of the house. Of course everyone is dying to see what we've done since we've been there since September.
I've arranged a local restaurant to bring lobster rolls, chicken salad rolls and chowder. I will make cucumber salad, cole slaw and pasta salad. We will have water, soda, coffee and tea.
Hope they like the place. When they see the kitchen, they will wet their pants! Yeah, it's a big change.

When I would go to an Assoc meeting at one of the mansions (it always seemed to be at a mansion) I would come home and see my poor old four-square and give the Bette Davis line - "Whatta dump!" Then one meeting as I looked at beautiful fretwork, crystal chandeliers, and the 2 large adjacent common rooms I found this thought running through my brain - I am so glad I do not have to clean this place! Gave me a whole new appreciation for my place.
I saw the photos of your kitchen - I would wet my pants! AND be green with envy!

The PO was quite popular. A good woman. Funny, friendly, a little quirky but in a good way. So we are new and taking over for someone who was well liked. Big shoes to fill.

You will do just fine as yourself. Fill your own shoes - that will be enough.

No crystal nothin' in this place. Pure beach house casual. With a few antiques thrown in here and there. :)

It's tough to do that. Same thing here. But, after the newness of us wore off guests started telling us they were seeing the cracks in the po's personalities.
It's your place and you'll wow them with your own specialness.
Lobster roll? There may be a road trip in my near future!

Good Luck to you! I am sure they will welcome you with open arms :) How many are in your Association?

25 members. Meetings are usually 15 or 20 people.

Beachhouse I wish for you to never ever be compared to the prev owner, for you to blaze your own trail and for them to love you.
I was literally at the tire place yesterday and the owner said "That B&B has gone through many changes and uses" I said "It has been a B&B for 25 years, you are dating yourself..." kind of in jest.
Be YOU. Sorry to say it for those in the town and chamber etc, but YOU are the one making that place great, not the P.O.
As I said on another thread, OWN IT, be proud, don't let them steal your thunder, you are the ones who are doing what you are doing, knocking improvements out of the park!

Thanks. I hear you. Our neighbors are forever telling us how much they like the improvements.
I love your 25 year story. We had someone stay with us the other day who said she loved the PO - Dave. Dave sold the place 15 years ago! LOL

You have not seen my kitchen. Ever since my epiphany re having to actually CLEAN a mansion, I have LOVED my house. The counter space I have learned to do my breakfasts on is about 1 ft x 2 ft as everything in this house MUST be convenient for Himself (life is MUCH easier that way). You would be surprised what you can do in that amount of space (having only 3 rooms helps also). I also use the top of the stove as a place to put raising bread pans and pans coming out of the oven. We all do what we gotta do. HE is not going to change at his age.
