I've mentioned before that the thing holding me back from switching to ResKey is the way it handles bookings for guest pets. Last I checked, booking with a pet works the same way as, say, adding a bouquet of roses or a massage. Add a dog as an add-on. The problem I have with this is only two of my rooms are pet-friendly. I'm worried that potential guests won't read which rooms allow dogs and they'll just book any room and add their dog.
My current system doesn't let this happen. In the first screen, potential guests have to indicate the number of adults, number of children and number of dogs. The system then shows them ONLY the rooms available that meet all the criteria, so if the dog-friendly rooms are already booked, it'll show no availability for the dog people, which is how it should. Clear as mud?
Anyhoo, since many of you are now using ResKey and some of you are pet friendly, how is the system working for you? If anyone who is NOT dog-friendly and has some spare time to post the question on the ResKey forum and let me know of any solutions, I'd be grateful.
Thanks!

Using breakfast delivery in lieu of dogs
I have it showing ONLY on those rooms, so when I set it up it only populates as an add on for those two rooms.
I also have notes all over the place saying Only these two rooms.
There is no search feature for amenities, like a database "show me the dog friendly rooms" however. I think that is what you are thinking about? They need to KNOW which rooms ARE dog friendly from the rooms page and what it says ON the rez key indiv room description.
You can visit our rezkey page if you want. put in a date, Sierra suite is brek delivery, you can see how it works. It won't allow any other room to select that, they never see it. This was from me doing some finangling and getting it set up right.

Thanks, JB, that's a help. Limiting the add-on to specific rooms is definitely better than universal add-ons. Good to know this is an option.
Ideally, though, I'd like it set from the start. Just like if someone enters 2 adults and 1 child, it'll only show the rooms that accommodate three people and not have them add a third person as an add-on later.
It may be impossible for John to make this kind of change to his system now that it's going, and I may bite the bullet and switch at some point anyway. It's just hard to give up a feature I already have and value!

I have never seen that before. Entering the # of guests then finding the accom to suite. Interesting.
I personally would not want it. Our rooms are for two people, so it is a done deal.

Hmm, interesting. I didn't notice that's how ResKey works for people. I guess we all like what we're used to. Most of our rooms are max 2 people but I can take a third person in two of the rooms (and sometimes I limit those to max 2 just for my own sanity). I like that guests only see the available rooms that they can actually stay in. Never thought of it any other way.

I might need a button for babies.
check here for breakfast in bed - these rooms
check here if you are bringing your dog - these rooms
check here if you are bringing a baby under 2 even though we say we are not suitable for children under 12 - oops! sold out!

At least how mine is set up, you put in the dates, ResKey shows everything that is available for those dates. The input for number of adults and children is located with each "room" along with the "reserve this room" button. They are drop downs and only have numbers up to the capacity of the room. They also adjust automatically, for example one cottage has a max capacity of 6 -- it I select 6 from the # of Adults menu, the # of Children menu only shows 0 as the only option. The default is two adults, and the minimum is at least 1 adult, so you won't ever get 6 children....
