We are coming to the end of a busy run and I was just thinking about how happy I was to... get a break... have the coffers full... reflect on some of our great guests.

Hubby likes counting the money. I like reading the reviews and patting ourselves on the back for a job well done.

I like sitting adding in my jammies all day. Not answering the door. Going out for lunch hours from home.

"Wear clean undies"
Just kidding.

I think I feel like I SURVIVED! How? Not cooking breakfast, is the feeling I have, not having to cook breakfast, again, hurrah! Wait, and not having to clean up from cooking breakfast - serving breakfast - hurrah!

Sleeping in then going out to breakfast! Also, just hanging around in my sweats enjoying the feeling of having no 'outsiders' on our property. I get real perturbed when someone just drives up unannounced and spoils my special time.
We had no guests on Sunday, so Monday we slept in and then went out to breakfast. Bacon, eggs, hash browns for me pigs in a blanket for DH with 2 coffees = $28 including tip. Worth every penny

My favorite feeling is "freedom"! To do what I wish in my own house, without having to dress appropriately, or burp quietly if I don't want to. :) I can have a phone conversation in the pretty living room, instead of all closed up and talking quietly in my own quarters. I can laugh until I snort if I want! Cooking something without worrying about the smell. Going for a swim in my own pool. Coming and going without any time restrictions.

Oh Lord...the season has only just started. I'm in trouble.

I'm getting in the last few trips and lunches with friends. Then it's non stop for 5 months.
Walk inns have started. So even days that start empty don't end that way.
I was gone for 30 minutes on a walk and we got 2 rooms!

Having my husband make me a fire in our amazing great room and reading a book. It's so beautiful but only my guests get to enjoy … until midweek winter nights when it's all mine.

All of the above...plus walking normally (not tiptoeing) through my own house, playing the music I like on the radio, and playing it as loud as I want, sleeping late, reading a great book with leisure, taking a nap, inviting friends over and not telling them they have to be quiet, just breathing a huge sigh of relief!

Ahh yes.... the deep breath.... it must be something that happens all around the world as that last guest sputters down the driveway..........the collective innkeeper's deep breath. We should have something like 4:20. Maybe the 11:01

Just think innkeepers in all time zones taking that deep breathe across the world and back again...a neat picture in my mind. Like an innkeeping domino...

as thousands of doors close, hundreds of music systems get silenced, and dozens of aloha shirts come off!
