That's what a caller wanted to know when they called last night for the coming weekend.
She said she has called all over and every B&B in the area is booked.
I said 'It's Memorial weekend.'
She sarcastically replied 'I know that, but even B&B's?'
She just wanted a little getaway for her 3 day weekend. Awww! I think she has realized her idea was not just her own!

Right, no one goes to b&b's for holidays. When does she think people come here?

I get that question EVERY weekend in the summer. Hello? It's the beach? In the summer? In Texas? Gaaaaaa....!!!

Send them my way. I think people still think it is on the 31st, not this weekend! Send em on over red rover...if the beaches are full go to the mountains. It is opening beach season and boating season at our lakes too! :)

Shame on you! She was trying to do you SUCH a FAVOR by booking your B & B for Memorial Day weekend. Such ingratitude! (Snark! Snark!)

I actually had an argument the other day with someone insisting that mem day is always on the 31st! And this was a biz person who was planning on mem day being on the 31st!

I always say "yes of course I provide a high quality service for an excellent price so my regular guests know to always book me up early for key events such as XXXX"
I know none of us want guests like that but its all about impressing on them when you can't get a room anywhere you arn't doing me a favor with your business - plus its usually them who balk at the price and try and haggle and say things like "oh but the Hotel X is doing it for X price"
I looked online and this this weekend at the large hotels its $480 for a standard double room for 1 night!

No one ever believes me when I tell them the hotels are over $350 on the popular weekends. They want to argue that my prices are too high for a b&b and then don't believe it's half price here and breakfast is included!

When people call and you are fully booked, you should tell them how far in advance you are booked and create some cachet!

No argue needed. Tell them that is it and if you can find better or cheaper ..go for it!

Had an email last night for rooms next year. Explained the same weekend this year had been booked since April.
I do try to add that little push to book earlier for next year.
I will remember what cambs said and tell them the repeat guests book way in advance.
