Having a debate in my house. Trip Ad isor ranks us the number one hotel* in our town.
If we post the ranking to our web site, are we bragging/turning people off; or marketing/bringing people in?
discuss.
*the Inn was listed under hotels on TA when we took it over. We didn't correct it. There are 7 hotels listed in our town. Most are B&Bs. There are 27 B&Bs listed under the heading B&B. We started as number 5 of 7 and got lifted to #1 over the course of a few months. Secondary question = any comments on switching to the B&B heading?

No discussion needed. It's not bragging. It's marketing!
And I wouldn't change the TA category either. If it was like that when you arrived and nobody says anything, leave it alone. Being #1 in town is of great value, and you have a business to run!

I need to see that skit!
Not sure why you he even thinks that you cannot blast it to the world, they even give you "stinkin' badges" to quote another movie. :) Use the force luke.

Grab it and run with it. No one but jealous competitors would consider it bragging!

Ain't broke! Don't fix it!! Only Av is got traction from bragging/marketing they were #2. Shout from the housetops - WE ARE #1

I guess, though, some ways you use this could show more class than others. In other words, perhaps don't put a bunch of exclamation points after it.
That being said, JB has recently been encouraging me to be less understated, so take my advice with a grain of salt!

I don't think of bragging as a bad thing. If you have worked hard to have something that you CAN brag about, then by all means use it as a marketing point. We have the best darn homemade sausage gravy in town and I'm not afraid to brag or use it in my marketing. Go for it!

Years ago we were the #1 place in town. It was prominently placed on our home page!
I can't say about switching categories.

I guess for me, the word bragging is weird. This is a business. Perhaps marketing is misunderstood? This is not winning the spelling bee in elementary school.
