Talking about an upcoming trip here. They are traveling for about 10 days. They have looked at a LOT of websites.
They chose here based on the website. This is why:
  • Large photos
  • Clean layout
  • Pix of the innkeepers
  • New-looking website
  • Welcoming tone and look
  • Lots of information about what to do
JB wins again.

You are everything a girl could ever ask for!

People are getting to the point that they will not read text. A lot of people these days don't even use Google to find information. If they can't find a You Tube video telling them what they need to know, they'll just skip it.
I predict that within a few years our websites will just be a series of videos.

If so, it will be time for me to retire. I'm an anachronism. I hate watching videos for info. Give me both. Text and video but don't make me watch 10 minutes of instruction to find out the one piece of info i want.

Had a positive comment on our site yesterday. guest said he chose us because of the site, amenities, food and off street parking. Another thank you to the inn-mates inn-tervention late last year. Add-ons definitely up this year.

It is nice to hear what people like on our sites. Maddie you put a lot of work on there. It is an example of what efforts you go to for your guests. Glad these people vocalized this. And I am sure they chose the perfect spot!

I couldn't have said it better!

I have to add, because she was JB's sister after all, that she was completely skipping old, outdated, websites even tho, "they might be the best place, I couldn't look at the sites."
I didn't ask exactly what made her think they were old sites but I think we all know what WE personally think an old site looks like.

This is terrific Mads. I think plenty more think this but don't verbalize that your site is above par.
People were scared of photos on the "old sites" even though plenty were saying "show them what you've got" and you COULD compress images back then. Sure not everyone had high speed wireless, but one knock it out of the park photo on the homepage would have done it.
I always think about an airline ticket for information. Even if you print at home an eTicket. The first page is the printable part, even with some of the extra print, what you need is there, then the page 2 and 3 and even 4 are the small print. Whatever I personally need at the traveler will be "above the fold" or the headline area, on page 1. The rest is gravy...

OTOH, not your kind of guest, JB. When I looked at the phone after she hung up I had been talking to her for 18 minutes.
Only a couple of minutes spent on the website info.
I know why they are coming, how long it's been since they've had a chance to do this sort of thing, the wedding they are going to along the way, what the weather is like where they live, etc.
