Here's something to think about

If you buy an inn turnkey and the previous owners (of many) did not get permits or do thing properly you will be the one to pay for it.

So now the toxic freak has now called the health dept and the building dept on us. This is really working out to be a terrific year. The most amazing thing about this is he lives in this county and I have his address. I am not saying anything more about that, but would you be so ugly when someone has her address and your cc information?

WTF???? why on earth would they do that? This is one freaky person. I am guessing if they live there others in the county have the same opinion of them.

Is there such a thing as a Harassment Charge that can be filed? What the heck did you DO to win such a "good friend" (besides exist I mean)?

They are NOT local. A local would never ever ever be this way. Friggin' ... I won't say any more.
Here is the rest DH used to work for our county, the departments have had a turn over, but the inspector who called he knows and was very nice on the phone. He is coming out tomorrow. DH will meet with him. I am sure it is something we can work out, but the fact this dirtbag did this - of course, I would expect nothing else. PITAS NEVER GO AWAY Y'ALL! I hope you newbies are listening, pick yoru battles, if someone is reeking of toxicity let them go...let them walk. Screw your policies, escort them away, pay them to leave if you have to!
BY THE WAY if you even HINT AT ADA you better watch out.
Let's see =

1. Room on the second floor (staircase to go up stairs)
2. Sunken room with two steps down into it (*this will be where we need to put a handrail or grab bar I am sure - where the PO's didn't)
3. Staircase outside the room to enter and emergency egress
4. A step stool next to bed as it is a tall bed (for those who are short, I am not I don't need the step stool)

All of these things we share on our website clearly. We never ever ever ever would use the words ADA or hint at that. NEVER. Nothing in this house, even my laundry room has steps to go in and out.

Health department? and the Building Department - clearly someone with not enough to do!

This has crossed over to obsessive. If this is personal and persistent, it could get worse. Be circumspect in your reactions, frank but calm and non-personal about the motivation behind the calls when responding to authorities. The officials may have encountered communications from this source before. The high-road is the best strategy here. I've encountered this kind of behavior before, fortunately not in inn-keeping. It is amazing how some can only get their own sense of self-worth by attempting to destroy others. And the effect is fleeting. They must always seek a new target in order to keep bolstering their own sense of self. Playing one-upmanship, or any other kind of escalating only feeds this. Ideally, the bully's efforts should just quietly come to naught. Unfortunately, the bully will move to the next target. I'm so sorry this is happening now. You are a person of integrity and kindness. I had a person very close to this . She tried to bad mark us. We took the high road. Yes it did hurt us for a few years but we recovered. But in my heart I did not! There is no words that can make you feel better. But just know we all understand where you are coming from .

There are words for this person, one's that I can not place on the forum, but you can feel free to fill in the blanks ____________ ____________________ ____________ ___________________ .....

Thank you. You know that is what we said here when he was here, DH said "He is lucky I was not here!" and then we said "That is why he was acting this way" Sure he would bull-doze anyone and everyone, but having a man at the helm vs the "little woman" can make a huge difference some times.
I don't want to think about him, and how awful he was I want to focus on the good things in life!

Yes. I actually called down there to warn them about him. They basically have experience with every sort of nut in the 40 years of music business and it is nothing new. Am I going to be having more of this sort now that the venue is open? Not saying he had anything whatsoever to do with music, but was going to a show there. I pray not.

we have 1 theatre - music/plays all sorts 800 seats
1 royal hall theatre - 1000 seats
hiC auditorium 2500 seats
99.999999999% no bother at all either artists or attendees
I wouldn't worry about the attraction of the venue it is nothing but this particular git is 1 in a billions
only problems we have ever had is some of the artists are a bit flakey about arrival times as they are booked in by the theatre or Festivals team and are coming from other venues but its worth it - have had 2 teck guys here for a week and a half - no bother at all.

The saying, What goes around, comes around is very true. You probably will not see it happen nor even know it happened, but trust me, he WILL get his. I have see it personally. So sad that people have to be that way. (Remember "Legal Aid" is still available.)

I've had a couple jerks here when my husband was away. The jerks do tend to take advantage of a woman - that's why when he goes away now, he makes me close. So he get's a vacation and I get a vacation and he doesn't have to worry about anyone treating me badly. (I was against this at first losing income but he insists!) He does all check-ins and being ex-military he sets the tone. Now this doesn't mean PITAs won't be pains, but the jerks realize they can't get away with as much. So sorry for you, it will quickly pass.
I just fired a housekeeper a couple months ago after just 5 days - brought her own masks and kept mixing ammonia and bleach in the tubs. Had to ventilate whole house one day, thank goodness no guests coming into those rooms. The next morning she called OSHA and the health department. Told the health inspector that we had dog fur all over the kitchen counters, on top of the stove, etc. Of course not true, but they did a surprise inspection and I was dealing with OSHA for a few days. But these people are pretty good at knowing who is an ass and who has a real complaint. Both inspectors were great and we were sort of joking about Ms. Chemical Agent as I refer to her calling OSHA on me. But I was steamed and had some bad thoughts too -- it's normal. Take a deep breath and it will be over soon.

DH is out talking with him on theporch. I heard him say "Sorry to drag you out for this" and as DH led him upstairs "Our last guests checked out today and survived..." yeah men, funny ha ha.
It is a health and safety issue that the guy dobbed us in on with building dept.
