A while back I asked some questions of an innmate here on the forum and put it all into this blog article, this was also at the time an innkeeper here chastised those of us who do self check-ins after reg check-in times expire, which I still feel are an amenity for anyone traveling, btw:

Excerpt:   To use a word I am fond of because it is a fun word and pretty much expressed my feeling on this issue "Be full of razzmatazz!" We work at the inn to provide the best of everything, we are not out on the porch sipping Sangrias. BUT BY ALL MEANS, WE WANT YOU TO!  read the whole article here.

Wow! That was one harsh, grumpy innkeeper who answered those questions!

And I totally get every point. There are days you just want your vacation to be about you and not about the innkeeper.

Other times, short breaks, it's great to sit and natter with other folks in the biz.

It is a fine line between too much and too little interaction.
