I had a Mother & Daughter stay last night to celebrate the mother's 60th b-day. Not our typical guests since our niche is romantic getaway. Both of them were very odd when I checked them in. I can't even tell you all the weirdness! For example, It's 4:15 and at the end of check-in I tell them check-out is by 11:00. The mother says "What time is check-in?" Uhhhhhh? She says something that makes me interpret her question like she thinks she deserves a late check-out since she missed an hour and 15 after check-in started!
Just weird stuff like that.
We live just about 20 ft. in our innkeepers house, next to the main house. If there is a ruckous in the night, we don't know unless a guest calls us.
Last night when we closed up around 10:30, the common areas looked like there had been a party! All the mugs, tea cups, coffee, cookies, teas, etc were gone. The fireplace in the living room had been disturbed. The piano was open and had sheet music open on it. At this point no sounds, so DH replaced all the necessary items so if we had early risers, there would be drinks, etc. for them.
This morning at 7:30 we go in and it's all a mess again and everything is missing once again. Pillows from the sofa thrown around, piano open again, fireplace disturbed. Now I'm a bit panicked because I fear they have disturbed our other guests and really upset that they felt it was their right to make a fire in my 125 yo wood house without asking if it was ok.
Breakfast is delivered to the rooms and now it's check-out time. The two other rooms in the main house are lovely repeat guests, so with each, I ask them if there were any problems or noise last night. First room says they didn't hear anything. Second room tells me these women were very loud, arguing, playing piano, heard doors slam until 1:00am! Now I'm horrified and apologize profusely to the guests.
A little later I'm standing on the front porch and out comes the mother and in her arms are our robes! I say, "uh, you're not leaving with those...?!" Oh, no, I'm just shaking them out. She goes to the edge of the flower area and starts shaking them. I see that at least one of them had not even been worn because the belt was still tied the way we tie it!
This woman was actually trying to steal our robes!!
When the daughter comes out, she says what a wonderful stay they had and her mother wants to come back every year on her birthday, I put a stop to her right there and then. Told her that guests complained about the noise and of course she denies everything. They left with a look on their faces like I'M the bad one!
I've never seen anything like these two disrespectful women! By the time they left, they both knew that they would not be welcome here ever again.
I'm still in shock.

I tell you, it's running rampant right now. I'm sorry you had such rude disrespectful people. And a Mother/Daughter, no less. What normal adult argues with their Mother so loudly that people behind closed doors hears it? Horrendous.

Reminds me of NYE. Guest via X P D AH tried to hold a party and then pack the room. We intervened quickly, party ended well before midnight! Kicked out at checkout time. Their friends slept on mattress protector because I'm not stupid enough to leave extra linens in the room. Once gone... they know they aren't welcome back. Oh... we call ours... Mr Porn Moustache.

Horrible. What is going on in people's heads. Disrespecting someone's home/business as well other guests special time.

Respectable guests only, all others STAY HOME!

oh no!!! who behaves this badly these days. what is going on?
glad you really told them

These two women were just so strange! The mother was as white as a sheet. When they checked out, we did find an empty prescription bottle for pain pills (oxy).
I'm just glad the other guests were repeats and very supportive of us. I would have hated to have new guests think that's the way it is at b&bs.

Oh my goodness me. What are people thinking they can do it is unbelievable. I am sorry you had to put up with that. It must be the year of the crazy cats.
Our guest were just plain disrespectful to the limit. I am so mad I trying to be claim This is the second day And I am still bummed out.
I swear this is going to be a summer of all records broken. I can just feel it.

not being funny but does the lid of the piano lock? I would lock it when you shut up for the night - simply because you will get some half cut twit (bit tipsy) who thinks its funny to tinkle on the keys at night.
we had a handful last night - we help with a very lharge charity day in the local park which is a charity fundraiser - we arrange everyone staying is room only and my mother check's them out.
However - friend who runs our big band his day job is a graphic designer and did some work for me in trade for 3 rooms as he was running an event the night before. 1 room I knew and was fine and assumed the other 2 were for people in the band (really nice crew) and wasn't worried.
Found out it they were actually for the caters we had hired for the charity day about a week to go - I assumed as they were working it wouldn't be a problem.
7 of them arrived in rooms booked for 5 - all had showers and used all the hot water. Then sat outside and smoked a ton of pot - I had popped out to a neighbours round the corner on my way back another neighbour stopped me as "there is a right bunch of scruffy people outside your place smoking pot and you should get the police to move them on" - yup they are my guests.
2 were about 18 and asked if there was a curfew - should have said yes - woke the room next door to them (who was also a comped room) and then woke them up in the morning with lots of throwing up - remember these are people working with food.
Room 2 the nice comped people came and told me as they knew we were out on site as they were worried what state the room would be in when we got back.
Chap apparently spent all day throwing up in various bushes - priceless
Otherwise the day went excellently well!

Cambs, I had the same idea about locking the piano, but it turns out there's no lock!
What a mess you had! I think if I had to choose, I'd rather have my horrible women than your pukers!

We're getting into the silly season.
