This was posted on FB of the Shinnston Community Band Tuesday. I am to the left of the tubas and the right of the Director's shoulder (mercifully impossible to find). Last year we dedicated the Performance Center with out Concert. July 12 & 17 it will be the location of the first ever Shakespeare in the Park in West Virginia! This is over $200,000 of performance Center. We had a 50/50 grant and it took us 2 years to scratch together our 50%. Photo by Chr ist ian Cox

Can you try posting again? I can't seem to open the link (in spite of my super powers)

You've got a lot of folks in the band! All locals?.
We have between 65 and 70 musicians for any concert. They come from about 6 counties (the lady that stays here rehearsal & concert nights drives 90 minutes one way and has been demoted to being family) and range in age from middle school to 80s. This was the 18th year. I have missed only one concert - a Christmas concert when we were taking care of my b-i-l before he died. I am one of 5 originals.

Nice venue, must have sounded awesome!

We have a good sound company handling the mikes plus the acoustics from the Performance Center itself are great. For this concert we draw up to 5000 people, not counting the folks in the houses surrounding the Park and their BBQ/Picnic friends. This year it took 45 minutes to clear the cars - only one main road out with parking on every side street near the Park as well as IN the Park. It was not due to inefficient traffic control. We had every Police Officer plus the Police Auxiliary from Marion County directing traffic at every intersection to keep it flowing. Our band has a huge following - and of course there IS the fireworks.....
