Hi Everyone
I would very much like to thank you all for the assistance over the past 6 years when I began researching as an "Aspiring" Bed and Breakfast operator. I am now an innkeeper in my 5th year and still turn to this site for such valuable information.
I am an ocean or two from most forumites but the issues we all face in our daily operations are not. Whilst Ive lurked alot I hope that I can contribute to the forum in the future with the confidence of a bit more experience in hand now even though my Aussie terminology will at times make you laugh. Or even require interpretation

We are in the process of expanding our B&B with priorities focused on "personal" space for us and STORAGE. Good Business Planning is a key to a start up and ongoing assessment but the 2 items Ive mentioned have become so precous that we really did underestimate them when we first started.
Thankyou again for a wonderful forum.

Welcome!! We re from all over so you will fit tight in. JB lived in Oz and her DH has family there. Cambs is in Jolly Olde, and HJ is in Scotland and several are Canadian so we understand a lot of terms. And if we don't we will ask. I am very happy we were of help to you. You are not the only one with space issues! My thoughts of having 2 rooms to live in became a bedroom and an artist's studio - so I live in my office among the crapola that I really do keep sorting through to no avail.

Welcome pull up a chair and join right in. We all have different thoughts and different ways to handle things . So don't be shy . You will fit in nicely.

We are pommes! lol that's the name Auzzie's use for us.
We are in the same boat with personal space and storage - but are expanding 8th December! counting the days!

Thanks for sharing Kakadu, we look forward to hearing more from you, fair dinkum!

Welcome back! We all get so much from sharing on this forum...even those of us who have been inn keepers for a very long time!
Yes, storage and private space are essential to going the distance as an innkeeper. We have never been sorry to deny access to our private space ...even when being criticized by a guest who wants to invade. Hopefully you will arrange your space so that it is truly private and separate from guest space...with a lock on the door between!

I'm looking forward to hearing your stories! Be sure to stick around and glad we've helped a little.
Personal space is so important. I don't think that aspirings and newbies really understand the importance of it until they've been innkeepers for awhile. Congrats on being able to expand!

Welcome! I lived in Aus (Sydney) for some time! my sis still lives there! I'll totally understand what you say!! LOL

Hello there, welcome. Personal space is so important, it's surprising how many new innkeeps I speak to who haven't even considered that.
