... For the past 8 years...
Had my first public reading last night. The book isn't quite finished but, rather than write something completely new and needing something to present, I read the first chapter to a group of relative strangers.
As you might imagine I was a little nervous. I've only shared this with my daughters and my writing group.
Started off with the idea I would read a few paragraphs and stop, just so I had something to share.
Well, ham that I am, when everyone laughed in all the right places I sailed right thru.
Quite relieved right now that it was well received. Back to the editing!

We all need something to feed our soul...so glad you have found writing. I guess I should not be surprised....you have a way with words here on the forum!

Same one. I joined a writing group last year and we've been sharing our works and I've been editing like mad.
I've got someone who will go thru it and help with the punctuation which, apparently, I'm not so great at.
The group I read for is a new one. A place to bounce ideas around rather than an editorial group. Lots of different styles from plays to poems to funny letters and short stories and memoirs.

They both sound like great groups and must help to keep the motivation going. Good for you!
