That book I've been writing

... For the past 8 years...

Had my first public reading last night. The book isn't quite finished but, rather than write something completely new and needing something to present, I read the first chapter to a group of relative strangers.

As you might imagine I was a little nervous. I've only shared this with my daughters and my writing group.

Started off with the idea I would read a few paragraphs and stop, just so I had something to share.

Well, ham that I am, when everyone laughed in all the right places I sailed right thru.

Quite relieved right now that it was well received. Back to the editing!

we have had a right go round with cancellations this week

(1) builders who were supposed to be with us Monday-thurs till October have had their job cancelled so they have cancelled 2 twins and a single every week till october

(2) 3 rooms from tonight cancelled - 1 resold to a regular straight away but furious as now have a different person in every night when we had sunday through wed all same people so less work, laundry and a but of a break for DH and me. Really cross as they were coming from Finland so am certain they didn't only know a week in advance they couldn't come for the convention.

Check at your library. There's a state organization here that tracks all the local groups. You might have one of those too.

I can't wait to read it! Is this the one you did with NaNoWriMo?

Same one. I joined a writing group last year and we've been sharing our works and I've been editing like mad.

I've got someone who will go thru it and help with the punctuation which, apparently, I'm not so great at.

The group I read for is a new one. A place to bounce ideas around rather than an editorial group. Lots of different styles from plays to poems to funny letters and short stories and memoirs.

They both sound like great groups and must help to keep the motivation going. Good for you!
