In 3 weeks. Then again in Nov. Then again in Jan. Then again in April.
All planned.

Make plans in advance... debating Christmas of Easter at the moment....three weeks on the Pacific Ocean.

We plan it. A week in Oct. It's to be with family in FL, so it's definitely a getaway, but not the same as a real vacation.
We're cutting back on getaways right now because we're planning for a BIG one Dec. 2015

Planned vacation to Florida in November.
Recently closed the remaining rooms of a quiet week in September. I will be off work and we'll have a few guests, but mostly, time to ourselves for a stay-cation. We even plan to sleep in one of the guest rooms.

We block the diary well in advance. We have this Friday and Saturday off, that was blocked back in May and we have two weeks blocked in November, I just had a call from someone wanting to book 3 nights during that period.
So it's got to be well in advance.

Cruise in Feb to the A B C islands. Is making it a point now to take a vacation yearly. One of the big reasons I got the go go mobile!!!! Taking our time to get to port and see things on our way.

DH does not travel well so we no linger take trips. I block rooms when kids come, when I have a conference when I get told the dates.
In October I will get the dates for the July 2015 event and I am going to block those 5 days and make a rez at the resort nearby so we will be close - no 2-hour one way every day. We will be staying at the same hotel where some of the others for the event will be - it is our annual reunion.

I've blocked off a few days mid-week this September (busy time!) for hubby and I to go away for our 15th wedding anniversary. First time we'll be going on a real getaway together since we bought the B&B nearly 10 years ago!!

We usually plan one trip a year and then block off rooms sporadically throughout the year when family comes home. We always take the week of between Christmas and New Year's off.

We are going away for Christmas/New Years this year! Woohoo!
We usually make good money around Christmas, but it can be a bit tiresome and more handholding. And New Years always has some wahoo that wants to try to throw a party or pack a room. This year.... Southern Hemiphere, here I come.
It does mean we have to cancel our late January trip to the Orient though. Can't afford to do both.
(And Las Vegas in November is still on.... free flight with points!)

Do you want to rent an apt off the strip or be right in the thick of things?

At the moment, I have a reservation at a place along Boulder Highway. We always rent a car anyway, because we like to run around and drive off too. But we might be doing the vagabound thing for some of the days because I just got an offer at one of the big hotels for 1/2 off midweek for 2 nights with a bonus of 1/2 off cirque show and 1/2 off buffet. It's not that unusual for us to take up a few offers when we are in Las Vegas. One year I was offered a weekend for free and MoH was offered 3 nights for $39 midweek, so we had two different reservations for the same hotel and had to check out to check in to a different room.
Do you know of a good apartment?
We often don't stay on the strip, the ozone in the air makes sleeping a little more difficult and the table games aren't as fun as off-strip :)

Yes. I do know of an apt. I'll email the link.

Actually, my time off is when I get to go to things for the City. This year the summer Muni Conference is 10 miles from here - so no get-away, I will have to come home and do whatever DH has lined up for me that he needs/wants. We currently have a group of bottom-scrapers (it those who spout negativity/nothing happens/city admin are robbing us who never show up to do anything constructive) at Council meetings and on FB spreading their poison. Since the fiscal year started the day after end of quarter with B & O taxes now yet in, the starting figure for the year was less than -$15,000 (several huge water breaks in June) so to avoid flak, I am not being sent to Conference (paid by City) so I paid my own registration. The networking is important!!!
Then I will have the Tourism Conference and in January the Muni Conf when the Legislature is in session - these are all the vacation I get so it is planned..

We have two ladies who run our b & b for us whenever we want to take a trip or even go away for a weekend so we never have to block off or plan anything far in advance. They will come at a moments notice. We just got back from a cruise(Holland America) from Quebec City to Boston….it was wonderful. Last year we did a meditteranean cruise and this year will do Orlando and a carribean cruise. The two ladies have really gotten the hang of running the b & b and we pay them $200 a day so we do try to do it during our busy season. There have been some small issues but nothing too serious and they love it. Sometimes I think they like talking to our guests more than we do. We never have to shut the b & b down except for 3 days over Christmas.

A week in SWHarbor, ME coming up in Sept. Renting a lodge for the first time, instead of staying at a B+B in Bar Harbor. I think we really need the seclusion of our own place this year instead of our favorite B+B. I'm so tired I don't want to even say hi to the innkeeper friends we have made over the years. Now that is pretty pathetic. Really hoping that we get rejuvenated so we can see out the rest of the season with some spring in our step.
Then....we are officially semi-retired and closed from Nov-April.
