Late call - around 9 ish. Another inn has two women who thought they had a reservation. Yes, we have a room with a rollaway. We set up the rollaway and settled them in. Shortly after (20 minutes maybe) the doorbell rings.
They can't possibly stay, there is a "swarm" of mosquitos in the room! They will simply drive the hour home. They leave. We refund.
We (all three of us, me, DH and our adult kid) run upstairs to find out how a swarm of mosquitos got in and if they are affecting the whole house.
We sat quietly in the room for 10 minutes. One. One mosquito. He's dead now. There were also maybe 3 or 4 gnats or fruit flies. It's August. Life happens. No swarms, no holes in the screens. Nothing scary.
Between the lost reservation, the trip to our house, checking in and settling in.....they probably used up an hour of their time they could have used just driving home in the first place.
I await the review.

"Nothing good comes from a call after 8pm" as an innmate here has been known to quote.
They were PITAS at the other place, nice of them to send them your way...

Ugh August & Fruit Flies!! Any solutions? We are constantly bagging and sealing all fruit waste, cleaning, etc. they go, they stay, they don't fly away!

take a small bowl or glass and put apple cider vinegar in it. Cover in plastic wrap and poke a few small holes in the plastic wrap. They will fly in and hopefully not fly out!

One drop of liquid soap (to break surface tension.) No holes near the edges, only in the middle.)
