Let's see... the phone call demanding a rate, when I ask for what date, the said "tonight". Sorry, I'm full for tonight!
The phone call looking for a room at my hotel. I don't have a hotel, I have a B&B. Oh, motel. No, B&B. Looking for a room for himself, his wife and his three children, 17, 14, 12 and the 1 year old baby. Apparently not a child, since he said 3... unless I understood wrong and the 17 year old is the wife, which would bring me to a totally different problem. Sorry, we don't take babies. What is a B&B. It's your home? Yes. Bye! (And I didn't ask, but my guess is that he wanted for tonight anyway.
The guest we have been emailing and texting asking them for an arrival time arrives. When asked why they never replied basically says doesn't read email (and yet use the Internet to book us, which meant they had to get a confirmation email.) and that she won't book B&Bs in the future because we need arrival times. (Rude tone, I'm waiting for the bad review already. We are horrible people because we don't have a staff fawning on them!)
Managed the 40 minutes to get to the bank between cleaning up and waiting like an idiot for an arrival that was too rude to answer our emails and texts. Got the sheets folded, the whites in the dryer.
And now the weird question of the day. Is it just me, or do you run all the way back to your room and your private bathroom if you have to "go" even though you are in a guest room, you just cleaned the toilet. You know you can easily clean it again. But somehow it just doesn't feel like "yours" even though it's in your house and home. I can't be the only one runs all the way back to use my own... in a house where I literally own every toilet.

Yes. There is the one toilet in the laundry room that I will use if dh is in our bathroom. But that's it. Weird, isn't it?
Even if I'm sleeping in the room I run down to the laundry room! I hate cleaning.

I'm still waiting for the 3pm guest who needs the fax machine. Thinking it might be the same attitude.
They may be surprised to find there is no staff on after 7.
Dh is not feeling well and I'll get tired waiting and that's it.

Trying to help - young couple from Europe needing a place for them and 2 kids. Usually euro kids have been to b&b's or other small inns and know how to behave. Usually.
Still, we only had one room, one bed, not cramming them in.
Know a new place in town has multiple beds, they might consider it. Called, no one answered. Ok, end of my helping. But I thought to email to ask if that was an option they would consider - 4 in a room for 3 if 2 were kids.
Heard back 2 weeks later. Hmmmm.
Wedding crowd settling in. One still complaining to every new arrival about her location in the attic. Like I picked the room.

Remind her in the morning at breakfast or whenever you hear her say it..."I did not select your room!" or "Your friend picked the room, tell her!"
Really...I would have no qualms saying this to someone.,

Well, my European guests were a little late, but delightful until I told them the only slot I had left for breakfast. But I have a feeling it won't be a problem with the jet lag.
Got two more phone calls looking for the elusive room for tonight.

We have toilets in each room and then a shared one downstairs. Always use the downstairs one, unless I had curry the night before then it is back to the private toilet. Never use the toliets in the guests bedrooms... Weird I agree.

I agree with you, I never use them. In fact, I have to make myself use them from time to time, at least to sit on them and look around to look for dust etc. I spend more time with my head down near and in the toilet then above it, unfortunately, and no that has nothing to do with being on the turps the night before.

So true Stu! I almost always go back to our quarters to use the bathroom! It's weird, isn't it? They all belong to you, but it doesn't feel like it.
By the way, we did our trip, ending up in your general area. We didn't have time to get to your place, but we fell in love with the few days we spent in Malaga & Madrid. Next time, we'll plan a trip to concentrate on that area! BEAUTIFUL! And very friendly people.

Today is Saturday. Up at 5 to make breakfast for horse people - had to lead them back to the stable after breakfast. DH actually put the juices away while I was gone!! Went upstairs, turned off lights left on, took DVD out of player (have no idea how long it was spinning, probably over night), gathered all the wet towels from the floor and have the load in so I can hang it out. Got the coffee roaster cleaned and dried so I gould do roasts. 1 done (both roasters) and 1 (both going) in progress. Chapel tonight at 11 but no guests coming in - blocked all rooms so we can get an early start to an event his lordship attends every year. No idea what else today as the day is just starting - other than gathering the remaining items for an auction basket and taking it to one of the shops to organize all into a pretty basket.
Yesterday & Thursday were the crazy days. Another thread.
CRAP!!! I was on Skype with my son (mail call) when my phone rang. I forgot I was supposed to show the log house to someone today. Back now. They loved it. Dad is 92, a direct descendant of the builder of the house and had never been inside until today.

My crazy day yesterday too...started at 6:30am running out to see a client an hour away, then hit the store on the way home, cooked lunch for 6, who made arrangements to eat at noon, early check in at 1pm, but showed up at 11 am (the door was locked thank goodness), Then got a call from the sheriff stating that I had to fill out a paper regarding my client. Ran to Sheriffs office... "No we don't have that paper, go upstairs to the clerks office", run up the stairs (3rd floor), yes, but we cant fax it" I convince them, they say, ok. Then the Sheriff calls me back... "I have to have it notarized"(its 10 minutes to 5pm by then!) so then the clerk is calling all over the court house trying to find some one to notarize... find her, but I didn't have my ID.. ran home got ID.. Got notarized and then ran back upstairs to clerks office to get it faxed! CRAZY!! THEN... made Salmon dinner for same party of 6, and then the same group coming Saturday for Lunch with 4 more people! They asked for late check out for Sat, but no can do..... Wouldn't have time to flip room and then serve lunch to their group of 10 and be ready for my new check ins. They all just checked out. ... Whew! New check ins should be here in 30 minutes. Just enough time to wolf down some lunch and sit a spell!

I'm going to go take a nap for you...

Wow, your roller skates are getting a work out!

was busy yesterday - we have a big group who come on a coach from a large city about 5 hours away for a specific conference every August - we have it super sussed and works well but is busy on the Sunday
ie whole group comes for 2 nights arriving all together on the bus on Friday night ie day off for us on the Friday as they come about 7pm always ring at 30 mins away, all pay the same amount and have it ready in the right change on check in and we do all the receipts in advance- plus most have stayed before and know where everything is.
Sat - usually a bit of a mad breakfast and then all out at the conference all day
Sunday morning more mad rush for breakfast as they were all down at 8am which I wasn't expecting - then all the cases from the other BB's arrived - we collect them all here and then help the driver to get them all onto the bus well in advance so they are ready for a quick get away at 5pm - divide stuff into in the bus and under the bus and launch guests.
Chamber maid is being a pain in my arse and said is it ok if I just do till 2pm - couldn't be bothered to argue with her as my wheat intolerance had been playing up all night so about 4 hours sleep. my mum popped round and we did 3 rooms - meaning just 1 spare but couldn't face any more!
got all my people on the bus at 5.30pm and all my new arrivals in for 6pm!
