Happy Anniversary to my husband and me!
One year ago today, we sold our house and bought an inn 1/2 mile away. We moved in that day and hit the ground running. Open the next weekend, construction starting that day and lasting though the winter.
Anyway, he is exhausted, he made money, I am still not a baker and we are planning the next 'construction season.'
We wouldn't have changed a thing. On to year 2.

Congrats! I remember it like it was yesterday. Glad you hung around here.

Happy anniversary - and the marriage is still intact after moving, construction, AND a year as innkeepers. Total congratulations

Isn't life grand? Congratulations to both of you .You made it . Now on to the next 10 years. My first 5 were the best,it went so quickly. Now it is just another day and what lies a head who knows, but I must say we Love it! . Life is exciting and never a dull moment.

Congrats. We just looked back at our first guest book from when we were hobbyists... 1994!

Congrats! Our first year was our toughest. The rest will just be a blur.
When it slows down in a month or so is a great time for you and hubby to sit down, away from the b&b, be relaxed and reflect on your policies and what you can change to make things better for the next year. We did this every year and it's amazing what you can do when you're not in the stress of the busy season.

Good advice. Because of course we talk about policies every single night. But I hear you that we might get more done if we did it off site and when we have time to think.
Someone asked me if there were any surprises and I said I was surprised at how quickly it became second nature. I don't remember NOT having an inn. I remember the first night saying to DH, "There are strangers in our house!" It quickly became normal.

Wooo Hooooo! It's a cake walk from here. Not really, but...

Ten years has flown by for me. It's amazing how quickly it's gone.

This is just my impression, but I think you are on the track of success. It shows in how you approach what you do.
My one hope for you is that you remain or become adamant about taking time away to travel, if you like traveling, and more time than you think you can, for time off work. It makes all the difference. Before you know it, you'll be adding a zero on the one, like so many have said.
Congrats!

This is so true. Our guests are traveling and they like to hear our travel stories as well. In years we didn't go anywhere we were very boring!

LOL, there have been a couple disagreements, but spliting now is simply not an option! ;)

Thanks everyone!
We do have two vacations planned. One where we will stay in the inn, but only have a couple bookings, the other we are closed and off to Florida. far far away from laundry, ringing phones and coffee pots.

Good for You! Congrats - especially on the "wouldn't change a thing" part. Woo Hoo!
