One trend we have seen of late is:
We have begun to pick up the Ohio guests again. When we started out we had a noticeable amount of Ohio guests, and then when the economy tanked they stopped. Now we have had two in the last week and actually one more this week (who are innkeepers - non forum innkeepers) so I am excited to meet them.
The other trend is:
We have had virtually no fragrant flower bouquet add-ons this year at all.

Same here. It's a big disappointment.
But then, maybe staying at my place is considered treat enough ;-)

I'm seeing many more same day reservations this year - once every week or two, almost none before.
Two of our motels have closed this year, but in about 18 months we'll have two new hotels, adding 300+ rooms. So this year may be an anomaly.

Up here I am seeing more and more people not coming Friday But coming Saturday and leaving Sunday to go to work. Seems like they are working late on Friday and leaving their house very early Saturday. Going back home Sunday late.
I am also seeing much young people with a lot more burning income. Spending a lot in just a few days. But Not buying add- ons.

we are getting more people trying to be a bit careful or clever with money
ie ho tel .s,com -- do 10 nights get the 11th free - we get business people save up the 1 nights with work then stay away free with their wives or like a chap yesterday he books with Qui d co and got 12% cashback on his booking - see a lot more of that kind of thing

Very few add ons. No Italians. Did not get to practice at all this year. Lots more empty nights during the summer. Lots more single night bookings on weekends. (We have a 2 night min this year so lots of calls asking to make an exception.) A nicer all around crowd tho.

More last minute bookings, more from the U.K. via Canada. Like Maddie, an all around nicer crowd. I'm not sure if that's because we've booked a lot of elopement packages and they're just happy, but whatever it is I'll take it!

In August I got the usual mix, but on the telephone I got the Benjamin Franklin fan club (“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” people.) I must have had at least 100 calls looking for certain dates that I had sold out weeks earlier. Next year, prices for that weekend go up even more.
It seems that I'm getting a lot less people that seem grateful for all the work that we do and therefore post less reviews. Some of the reviews that I have gotten lately, make me want to retire.
