We've had TC here in the states for close to a year now. I've been using it and it's done nothing for me. My problem is my location, not TC. I think it could be used very successfully for some properties. It can help level the playing field for those properties who are listed on major booking sites such as hot els. com or ex pedia & book . com
On your TA listing, it puts your 'official' site with dates available and people can book directly with your own booking system. The cost of the pay per click-through can be very expensive if you're in a major tourist area.

I might be reading this article wrong, but I am reading it that you will be able to book directly through trip connect and it is a new feature by trip connect coming later this year. We have been with trip connect since we opened in April and I think it has helped us get a lot of bookings through our website.

That's a significant switch from what TA says at their website:
"TC" empowers accommodation owners to generate new business by bringing visitors who are ready to book directly to their website’s booking page.
Taking people to the accommodation's website is good. Taking that away removes the need for TC. People can already book directly through my property's listing at TA (it runs through book_ing.com).

Don't know if it's different in Canada but if you go to my TA page and click on the calendar, it takes you directly to my booking.com reservation page. I'd love it if it took a potential guest to my web page but I just opened in January and I've welcomed the extra bookings that I've gotten through booking.com. I hate paying the commission but it's better than having an empty room.

if you have a business listing you can have your own online booking connected up if you have one of the compatible systems
