Asked as rain was sheeting down the windows.
Our weather station says rain all day. But who knows. I tell guest our weather station says rain. Guest insists on knowing what the weather will be this afternoon.
I say I'll look in the paper. "Well that's more like it."
Paper says rain all day. But who knows.
As I walk away I hear, "but who believes the weatherman anyway?"
Do you provide a weather forecast for your guests?
It's not like I live in a desert-like environment where I can say, "it's April, sunny and 70."

STUPID PEOPLE! They can watch TV or check their smartphone. Why should you go out of your way to provide the weather forecast? Another one of your PITA's

I have the weather channel on in the kitchen all the time, especially this time of year (prime hurricane season). So it's nothing for me to quote what I've heard a gazillion times already in the two hours I was listening to it. If that wasn't a habit of mine, and a guest asked me what the weather forecast was, I suppose it would depend on my mood, but I think I would just say "Mmmm...I'm not sure. I haven't seen the forecast yet." To me, that would be the end of it, but if they seemed really concerned, I'd just go check the internet. It gives me an excuse to sit down anyway :)

I used to print it off the internet every morning and post it ... BUT ... we were in a harbor and mornings were sometimes foggy and I knew it would burn off (usually). Or folks might think you have your own secret weather forecasting predicting powers.
Sometimes what they really were asking was ...
Is it going to be a clear night to take the lighthouse/sunset/island cruise? Maybe, but could be overcast in which case they'll cancel it.
Should I bring an umbrella/raincoat/jacket? Yes
Is it going to be cold/hot/windy/raw/wet/rough on the ferry? Yes, it might be, but go anyway.

He wanted me to go look it up for him.
Here's the thing - all the weather in North America eventually exits the continent here as it heads to Europe.
So far today it's been pouring buckets, cloudy but not raining, sunny, partly cloudy. That's right here.
A friend popped in from up harborfields way and said it was totally sunny, a few high clouds. But she drove thru a downpour on the way here.
Someone else came in from the south and said it was pouring buckets.
This guy wanted to know the weather for wherever it was he was going. So, 20 miles from here in one direction - sunshine; 20 miles in the other - downpour.
I tried saying, "well north and east of the main road it looks clear, but that's right now. This could all be headed that way."
Just take an umbrella and a smile...
And you know, it was the bossy attitude more than anything. I spend more and more time in the kitchen and less and less time socializing.

I have all TVs upstairs set on the Weather Channel for starters. After that - who knows. About an hour ago we had a monsoon. Now the sun is out. With luck, that will be it for the week (no I have not looked at the forecast that will probably be wrong anyway).
I am currently still able to look out my office window and see something. By morning I expect to see only the back of the Skee Ball trailer. The rides have been coming in all day. There will be a frenzy of activity until 5 PM Wednesday when the carnival opens. Guests will have to park at City Hall starting tonight. A week from now, all will be gone for another year. I also installed the new padlock (my daughter lost the old one in May). This week is the only time each year that my shed is locked.

Had a bride call me this morning asking about getting married on the beach in mid December. She's from AZ. Asked what the weather would be like. I told her probably raining. Wasn't too happy with that answer and tried asking more weather questions. "Will the sun come out:?" Sheesh, how do I know. Little drops, big drops, storms, cold?
If I could foresee the future, I don't think I'd still be an innkeeper.
