How do you decorate the porch for fall - if you do?
And is there a way to secure the pumpkins so the mischief makers don't grab and smash them? I was thinking there might be a way to tap a small nail into the base and wire them in place.
I just visited a couple places - two farms and two nurseries and the prices of mums, pumpkins, fall plants etc for what I love to do ... which is to go over the top ... are out of reach right now. I always lust for more orange!
I usually make some things with what I can find. I do love the bad bittersweet that they say is invasive. But none has grown up around the porch in spite of my annual habit of hanging it up from what I can forage.

I have a very small front porch - not even large enough for sittin' a spell. Sigh.... So my fall decorating consists of a pumpkin, two pots of mums, and a small decorative fall flag on an iron thingy. I love this time of year.

No porch here so we put three small pumpkins on top of the ledge that overhangs our Greek Revival Farmhouse front door. They are out of reach from vandals and look quite sweet!
Flanking the door I put large mums and kale, which lasts through most of the winter if it is not too harsh.

I just do a grapevine garland of silk flowers and fall stuff and put that over the doorway. We are pretty sparse here. Not many folks get up to our house so no reason to really decorate. We still have tons of marigolds flanking our sidewalk so that is quite colorful.

My Anniversary brothers are bringing me the pots of mums from the party yesterday. I will line my steps with them (and chase after them when they get blown off). I get a pumpkin for DH to carve and we set it on the porch ledge/railing (about 6 inches wide). I am where few will see so do not decorate much (no storage space for stuff either as the shed is small and no room at the inn for anything else).

Too far out in the country and usually 6 inches of snow and COLD! Country kids will go to the city to" get more quicker". So guess who ends up eating all the candy?

I am in downtown but few houses around me. i get maybe 6 urchins. They go to the section of town the older, more "comfortable" people live.

in the UK if you decorate you are giving out candy - with our location we would be pestered to death - which is a shame as I would love to decorate

Put up a sign.... "Giving Out Dental Floss" and see how many ring the bell :)

IF they steal pumpkins, use mums. Or corn stalks. Or a wreath.
I posted a picture of our doorway and porch on our website over the weekend. I am kind of proud of it. I think it looks really good.

I guess I expected to see the fall decor on your porch on the home page.
I still think you need to restage your porch and get a better ocean view on your home page. One that has clear blue sky with puffy white clouds and is clear ocean, It would be so much more appealing. You can hardly tell there is an ocean at your front porch:-(

and the pretty winter one when it's winter ... on the home page. would look so inviting.

That porch looks so inviting and comfortable. I just want to make a cold drink and sit there all afternoon!

thanks! I think our porch is our biggest diferentiating feature. Not all inns in town have a nice outdoor area.

BRAG about it. Who cares what anyone else thinks, if you have it flaunt it. Your place is unique, don't be part of the pack, no matter what an association tells you. :) Take 1000 digital photos and share 10. Go for it, do it, you will need these next year to promote this year. As Nike says Just do it!

That is nice. I will be getting a pumpkin for Himself to carve. The parking lots do not notice decor here (and I have neither energy not storage area to do anything). Wish I could get into decorating more - but not enough to actually DO it.
