Yesterday evening there was a beautiful autumnal sunset so I rushed down to the lake side to take some photos for my blog/fb page. Noticed some fishermen by the waters edge, unusual, but not completely unknown.
This morning I went out and our 6' roadside B&B sign is gone. It was one of those weird situations where you can't believe your eyes, and at first think you're missing something or going crazy, but no, our sign was gone.
At first thought a car had crashed into it but there were no car tracks on the grass and no sign. I wondered up and down no sign or the sign. I couldn't understand it because it would be cumbersome and heavy, so a group of drunken lads (not that we get them out here) wouldn't be able to carry it very far and what would be the point.
I searched among the trees up and down the road for about 1/2 mile each way and eventually I walked along the lake side. Down there I found the remains of a bonefire, still warm from the night before and in it a piece of our sign. The b*****d fishermen had run out of firewood and so smashed down our sign and used that. There's a gated entrance to the lake side down the road, they've taken pieces of that as well.
Had B&Bers arriving today, so had to quickly cobble something together with old bits and wood and paint in the garage, people will never find us without a sign on the road. What a B@#+?@#@? thing to do. No we've got to go out tomorrow and arrange a new sign, hoping the insurance will pay for it.
