Something we all need to do - get out of the house!
I erected a cone of silence and did not answer the phone or the door for one whole day. Did not turn the biz computer on. Did not do laundry. Did not clean.
Would have stayed in my jammies but I wanted ice cream so I had to get dressed to go to the ice cream stand.
Went to my performance art group tonight. Had a few drinks, a few laughs, cried a few tears over some heartfelt elegies, reconnected with a wonderful group of artists.
Life is good.

It is good. I think one reason I am so involved in the community and all the crap I am involved in is to get out of the house. Tonight it was an Agri-Tourism dinner that started with a reception by WV Hospitality & Travel. Reconnected with the friends from Tourism Division and met the new Tourism Commissioner.
Maddie, make the performance art group a priority. THAT is important to you so do not cheat you. Go. Guests will sort themselves out - or not. But your health and your soul need to be fed - and that is more important. Band rehearsal trumps everything except a Council Meeting (they pay me - peanuts but in WV we work cheap). Last night Council won and Election night will win otherwise, Tuesday night belongs to Band.
Glad you fed your soul last night.

I am so glad you got a staycation. I'm looking forward to a road trip (180 miles, not 1800 miles) 2 weeks from now and just the thought of an adventure keeps me happy. I think you needed yours more than I need mine though.
I hope everybody realizes that some people on a big vacation act differently than people who come to a small town in flyover country because they "have" to be here instead of because they "deserve" a vacation where everything including the weather is perfect. My worst ever guest took me several days to get over, but it'll probably be months before I have another PITA guest.
I admire how Maddie can rebound so well. Keep up the good work

Hear Hear my dear.
currently hiding out hundreds of miles from the real world.
yep. good.
(But I can't seem to keep away from the forum. Food too, for the soul)

I think I just had my last guest of the season??? He stayed 8 days . All he wanted every morning was fruit and bran buds with vanillin yoghurt! he would go out every morning and get a double double espresso coffee then come back have breakfast then off to the gym. So easy it was unbelievable. What a good way to end the year. He was fantastic very nice fellow .
We were planning to go south but now not to sure if we will . Any ways time will tell. It is great to be alone again, so many projects to start and to finish. Get my quarters back in shape, painting , fixing gouges from suite cases. And the list goes on. I had hope to replace some windows but that not going to happen till early spring. Rain and cooler weather has set in. We had a wind storm and to see our grass well lets just say pine straw has taken over and cedar leaves.

That made me laugh!!!
We're off to Glasgow tomorrow morning to see a show. Have two nights booked in a nice hotel, breakfast included (so nice to have someone else cook me breakfast for a change). I am so looking forward to getting away for a couple of nights.

I'm still checking them in. Who'd have thought Newfoundland would be so appealing in October? Those crazy Europeans! Then I found a reservation waiting for me for mid November. Oh well. Pays the utilities. I have two weeks booked in the new year to see my kids and old friends. Only 68 days to go! I was really hoping for some down time but it's only one room for the nights booked. At least I can slow down and my laundry room makeover will be done one step at a time.
On another thought, anyone have suggestions for single serving breakfast items? I have some staying for four days on his own and I don't want to be mundane but I don't need all the leftovers, baking or otherwise.

3 eggs with a little sour cream as an omelet with some cheese in the fold. Toast or biscuits with it.
If you have a small loaf pan (as in 5 in x 3 in) make 1/4 recipe of the baked oatmeal. 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon water (instead of the egg - easier to measure), 2 tablespoons melted butter ( applesauce), 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 3/4 cups quick oats, 1/4 cup milk (or water if allergic to milk). Put berries (I line the pan with red raspberries, top those with blackberries, and then blueberries in the gaps - bags of mixed berries are available at my small town grocery if I do not have fresh in house) in the bottom of a non-stick sprayed 3 x 5 loaf pan (or a small baking dish at least 3 inches deep). Bake at 350 F for about 30 minutes. Serve by flipping it over onto a platter. Vanilla yogurt on the side.
Make the omelet 3 eggs, 3 tablespoons water beat together) put chopped spinach as filling instead of cheese.
(This is a half recipe) 1/2 pound of GOOD pork sausage thoroughly browned. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons flour into the sausage and incorporate. Add 1 1/4 cup milk and stir constantly until thick. Serve with 2 or 3 biscuits. (I put the gravy in a dish with a ladle and let them add as much or little gravy as they want.)

I freeze my muffins after they have been baked. Some innmates freeze the unbaked batter. That gives lots of flexibility to meals for smaller numbers.

Freeze muffin dough unbaked and bake from frozen. Eggs are pretty easy, like an omelet. If you can get to Cost Club they have frozen RTB danish and croissant. (RTB - Ready To Bake).

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I like the frozen batter idea. I love guests coming down to the smell of something baking in the oven.

Congrats 2cat_lady you are officially an innmate.
Why? You have totally sidetracked this thread. I read the title then read your post and thought, what the? Well done, welcome to the club. Don't be offended if you are now handed the PITA baton, it is tradition.

Sorry. Too much information at times for my wee brain to handle so the excess thoughts tend to ooze out at times. My DH says I make him tired just watching me try and do 20 things at the same time. HE calls it multitasking when he does it. I just try and ' handle too much 'when I do it.
And, another question, (see), what's a PITA?

I actually was going to say A.D.D but I didn't want to offend anyone.
And I really like the word PITA. My favourite new word of the day!

I used to freeze the baked muffins, but now I'm freezing the batter in the paper muffin liner. Now that I've been doing it for a little while, I prefer the batter freeze. I love the smell and texture of the fresh baked muffin.

I think it might be in the job description that to be an innkeeper you need to have ADD.
