That is really cool.
We have no relatives nearby. Our only are across the country for 6 mo's.
If anyone has no plans for thanksgiving and wishes to spend it with us here in Virginia, we can throw together a big wing ding and celebrate our blessings. Let me know, we have all rooms open at this time.
THIS IS YOUR OFFICIAL INVITE. I WILL EVEN LET YOU PEEL THE POTATOES for the mashed potatoes and gravy.

JB, that sounds fabulous! I will have to decline but the day may come when we are alone and free for Thanksgiving. Wouldn't an innmate feast be a blast! I may be a little intimidated because you are all such good cooks, but I do have an awesome green bean with onion recipe....
We will be with close by family. Parents are getting very old. Gotta keep up traditions!
We've always been lucky because my family and his are a country apart. No "two-family shuffle" for us.

How sweet! If it wasn't one of our biggest weekends of the year...

Honestly, I'd rather have Thanksgiving with y'all. I'll leave it at that.

I used to sell Thanksgiving as an 18th Century Dinner but then had to do it all over again on Sunday for friends who came for holidays. Now I no longer sell it (doing 2 Thanksgivings was more than my body is willing to handle these days) so any guests we may have are invited to join us for dinner.
We do not do winter holidays with our kids - the closest is 600 miles and the roads can go from beautiful to pure hell in the blink of a snowflake. Safe is best. So Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter - just be ready to eat about 1 PM (dictated by the friends who come - arrive at 10, dinner at 1, gone by 3). We have 3 rooms so do feel free to come

funnily enough us Brits don't celebrate thanks giving - which baffles some of our USA residents (we have a big base here)
What's the funniest thing is us celebrating Guy Falkes Night on the 5th of November which is when we celebrate terrorists trying to blow up our houses of parliament by having giant fires everywhere and setting of fireworks! I do appreciate it does sound like lunacy when you have to explain it like that!
We also don't celebrate 4th of July for obvious reasons!

I miss having a great Thanksgiving and would be up to VA to see you guys in a New York second if Mr. New York (my dh) didn't have to work on Black Friday. :-(
I can't wait until he retires....
Hopefully, it will be before next Turkey Day...
