Well Joe Bob, I think I'm the first type, mostly, but picking up the check doesn't come naturally to me. I just don't think to. Have to MAKE myself be generous, because my nature is to do my own thing, take care of my own stuff, and not think about others. I'm working on that.

You know I am liking being Joe Bob. I have to admit. I even confuse myself. It works well!

As I was reading this, I kept thinking boy I wish I was the first but I am really neither. And then I came to the end of the article. I do believe most of us wish were were more of an abundance thinker. I do try, need to try harder.

Definitely abundance with a little scarcity. I never believe that they will have the same product in a few months at the dollar store, so I stock up in case they don't. Of course it's a dollar store and they don't, so then I have to find a replacement. Other than that, I'm with the abundance people :)

I think most of the innmates are abundance more than scarcity. A scarcity innkeeper would not last long as an innkeeper.

I am in the abundance category. I am a giver and a sharer. I was not always in the abundance category. I was a taker. I am grateful everyday for the work I have done to change. We got married, because we finally could after 25 years, and collected $8000 for an LGBT youth scholarship fund instead of taking gifts. It filled a need I had, but it benefited someone else I'll likely never meet. If I can do more of that in the next few years, I will. I grew up wishing I had enough to give. Now I'm looking for ways to make it so.

That is wonderful. That is the kind of gift that gives more than once.

Me too. I really hate competition for our inn-and I see competition everywhere. My DH is so the opposite, one of the things I admire about him.

You have to realize that you HAVE no competition - no other B & B has YOU. YOU are what makes your B & B so special and above competition. IF you think there is something they do better than you do it, learn from it and decide if it is worth the effort to do it better than you are already. Your hospitality and breakfasts as well as your decor, linens, and policies - but mostly it is the ambiance of your personality and your DH's that sets you apart
