totally off topic
every year we have a Victorian Father Christmas at the fair for all to visit with. souvenir photo available for purchase. when he is taking a break, the signs say 'Santa is feeding the reindeer. He will be back in his workshop at xx o'clock'
imagine my surprise when a young mother, with eyes shining, asked if she could go see the reindeer with her toddler. honestly, i rather thought 'grownups' knew that just meant santa wasn't available right now. not that he came with actual reindeer. there is no farm, no pasture, no place where we could have a few reindeer - which might be cute. by no stretch of the imagination could we accommodate animals at the location.
i said (quite honestly) ' i don't know where the reindeer are. but father christmas will be back in an hour. ' very disappointed ... the mom walked away.
now ... as i am making up the signs for this year's fair... i'm pausing. should i just say Santa will be back at xx o'clock and leave out the reindeer?

Id maybe think of something else nice - ie refilling his toy bag, checking on the elves etc
We are very lucky in that we have real reindeer at our Christmas fair which are owned by "santa" so he does feed them!

I think the sign is cute. She might have been putting on a show for the kid, but we too have reindeer in our town. They are adorable and do not look like you'd expect reindeer to look.
I say leave the sign. Just cause one person thought that was doesn't mean everyone think's there's a farm of reindeer on the next block.
OR, if you really want to change it - say something about how Santa went to go read some more of his mail or check his mail. Many kids send Santa letters and they might get excited thinking he's going to get theirs.

haha 'santa's in the loo - reading'

no, i won't do that but it's tempting - especially as things wind down.

I found this out yesterday, (BIL, better known as Mr Trivia) at Santa Clause school, this is the only reason to use when Santa was not seeing the kids.
