Small town - under 500k? Small? The population of my entire State is only 1.8 million - we do not have ANY city with 500k.

Media Outlet: SmarterTravel.com
Deadline: 7:00 PM EST - 18 November
Query:
I am looking for sources for a holiday-related feature on
SmarterTravel.com.
I am interested in small towns that have great holiday/Christmas
celebrations and events. Preferably towns and small cities with
less than 500K residents that celebrate the season in a unique
way, with holiday markets, festivals, tours, ice skating,
concerts, etc.
Requirements:
Must be North American (US and Canada) and preferably not a
major city.
Image assets would be amazing!

This town is 7000. They do the holidays up right. Santa comes by boat, Christmas tree lighting with carolls and free hot chocolate, the inn tour, an art gallery tour/open house, a living Nativity Pageant, Santa comes on Christmas morning and the kids visit and each gets a goodie bag. The elderly of the town get goody baskets delivered to them Christmas morning. There is a 'first night' type celebration called, "New Year's Rockport Eve."

Our Santa arrives on the Volunteer Fire Department ladder truck on the first Saturday in December as the final of the Christmas Parade that starts at 6 PM. This followed immediately by the Shinnston Community Band Concert at the only facility (currently) large enough to hold the crowd - the Baptist's Lighthouse. Hot chocolate and coffee and cookies are provided for all. One year it had such a magical quality to it as a light fluffy snow fell during the Parade. We have a population of about 2250 (we have had a few funerals - not the right ones though).

I have more people in my subdivision then I have in the village my B&B is in!

We're also approximately 7000 people and around here we're considered a pretty good sized city, so it always amazes me when I hear people from places like NYC and Chicago talking about Little Rock, at 200,000, being "small town America". LR is 30 times the size of my "city". WE are small town America!

I am constantly surprised by individual definitions.

At least this writer posted their definition.
Of course the writer will now have a vast array of answers to their inquiry...
