Confirmed yesterday the king bed is there for me to just pick up AND they found the frame and instruction sheet for it. Reuben suggested I call the Mission about the moving of the beds. JACKPOT - they will pick up the king, remove the full-size to their truck, move the queen to replace the full, and set up the king. Asked the Director of the Mission if it would be OK to give the guys each $20 and he said yes (did not want to provide Ripple). DH is giving me grief - as usual. HE wants me to replace some gas pipes. Like that can be done in winter... Come summer, just to shut him the f up I will get the gas company to either do it or get someone to do it - whatever it costs.
Today I spent $88 for mattress pad, king pillows, and pillow protectors A set of sheets is coming - less than $100. I think I got a deal! Will need to get more sheets though.

I wish. Some get PITAs, I get DH. The isolation is here because the negative is only shown when no one is here. This site has saved my sanity more than a few times. Negativity is a drag-down destroyer. It is true that installing these beds will make the rooms small and they will have to oonch around to get into them (and I will have to make them) but I have been convinced guests will opt for a bigger bed and less room. Let us pray that this is true.

It is true.

What I find really works is being right - and we all know you will be proven right!

It is so much easier for me to handle the PSGA (pay, stay, go away) folks than a grumpy in-house PITA!
I have 2 beds (queen size) that are tucked into corners due to the original design of the rooms. Maybe the first beds were doubles, that makes some more sense than deliberately trying to squeeze queen beds into the space.
I got nightstands that are 12" sq. They touch the wall and the bed but there is a nightstand, which is very important to me. These beds previously didn't have nightstands. So, if you've got a foot on either side of the bed, you can get a little stand in there.
Not that you even mentioned anything like that! Just got me thinking about the limited space I have in that one room.

Yes a nightstand is essential for me. It's where I put my glasses (eyewear, not whisky), wristwatch, and the bottle of Tums I seem to seek out about 2 a.m.
If there's not room on the sides, but enough room at the foot of the bed, you can always pull the bed out from the wall, allowing storage in the headboard.

This works as long as there's room to sit up and read. I like these headboard bookcase things except this is the first one I've seen where it looks like there IS a place to lean the pillows. Most of them look like you're sleeping with your head on a shelf!

I had taken the nightstand issue into consideration. I am currently using DH's Mother's sewing machine cabinet on one side and a 2-drawer nightstand on the other. They will have to go fut are the reason I thought the bed will fit although tight. Battling the door on one side and wall on the other.

Thank you, thank you. I know a young man who can use the work who can make exactly what I need. And since it is winter, I will have very few guests before I can get all fixed the way I want it. I can get reading lamps to attach to the sides of the headboard and therefore right where they are needed.
The drapes holdback on the window was bumped once too many times and has broken and I already ordered replacements that are stationary posts (what is there now was on a swing-out arm and quite pretty cameos that have required attention over the years).

Might have to modify one to be more like this:

I have a LOT of wall

there are awesome cube type things you can attach to a wall (if you've got the skill) instead of having the traditional bedside tables. i attached lamps to the wall up high (high enough so you wouldn't bump your head) and over each side of the bed - not wired in - they just had brass and brushed nickel cord covers that covered the wires coming down and plugging in to an outlet. if you get them, watch the pricing ... some come with the lamp, some you have to purchase separately.
folks love (love) the big beds. please leave some standard pillows on the bed in front of your kings. much as i love the giant beds, i can't sleep with a giant pillow.
himself will mellow ...

We have 3 standard pillows and 2 king pillows on the king beds. And then the 2 king pillow sham pillows.
Most often the king pillows are on the floor.

Thanks for the heads up on the pillows. Just bought 2 king pillows that are fiber-fill instead of the down - and they are supposed to NOT go flat. Will make good sit-up pillows probably. Talked to my woodworker guy tonight. When the bed is here I am to take a measurement of how high it is - floor to top of mattress (think I will add an inch) so he knows where to start shelf. Sent him Arks' photo as a what I am thinking of. I plan to attach reading lamps to each side of the headboard to save space.
Wouldn't you know it? I got a rez tonight for horses for Dec 2. The 1-2-3 switch is scheduled for Dec 2. I am a glutton for punishment. Covered my butt though by booking them into the one room that will not be switching anything. My holdbacks came today. I was thinking they were straight thingies but they are sideways hooks (stationary) so they should be OK. I will install them tomorrow.
OH, I also checked it tonight - the posts unscrew on the rice bed so I plan to just remove the bottom posts and move it to replace the full. Without those posts, I do not think it will "swallow up" the room too much. It will at least give me time to ponder the situation.

Thank you. As I get to the point of having less "future" the planning for the future gets less and less. The excitement is in the planning. It is great when I can actually get something to plan.

Fun with beds!

Once went to see a house for sale, we met the woman, her husband and another man while going from room to room. And then we finally got to the master bedroom which had a king and a half bed. <click>
