I've got GA installed on my site. I've probably used it once in the past year. I just don't see the benefit any longer.
Does anyone really track their web stats and then change the way they do business?
The incoming stats from directories never matched up with what GA was showing. From what I gather GA can't track certain mobile devices which those folks who push for mobile sites say is now a higher percentage of web traffic.
Sure I look at my blog stats because I can see exactly what blog posts are getting traffic and which FB posts are really making it out into the wild.
I'm thinking of uninstalling GA partly because my website has slowed down noticeably in the past week (after updating the template) and it's always GA that's hanging out there.
We've pretty much sorted out which directories bring in the traffic, which key words are the most searched and what guests are looking for from us.
Is there a purpose to tracking web activity thru GA any longer?

Only if you want to view stats.
You can do that in your control panel with AW STATS. You should consider installing WP Cache or WORDFENCE to speed up load time. THE theme isn't the culprit...so the guys tell me..it is WP. Also make sure you have compressed your images. They eat up alot of load time. Though some of the new themes and parallax sites use huge files and they seem to load just fine.
You really don't need the google anyalytics plugin if you have it installed. You can just put your GA into the Striking theme under theme options.

I have GA but it confused me - TMI. I really use web-stat and yes, I DID change things because of it. It tracks what browser - including mobile - how long they were on, what pages looked at, where they are from, where they came from as in goo, bing, or wherever, etc. It is worth the $7 per month I pay for it. I can actually understand what it is telling me.

There was an update to WP also, at the same time. I have the GA code in the options, I don't have a plug in.
Because it's a recent slow down I don't think it's the photos.

I don't think GA is the drain. Install WP CACHE plugin. WP is the issue.

I do have the wp cache plug in. It's the one I have to remember to clear all the time to get the side bar changes to update.
Some innmates tested it for me and it seems to just be on my end. No one else is having this problem with slow loading.
