A New Form Of Fraud (at least to me)

Just got this e-mail. They fooled me for a second.
Hello,
I stayed in your hotel (then had my place's name here) for one night 4 days ago. I used my debit/credit card to pay the room and yesterday morning when i checked my account, I had the transaction charged twice for one night.
I have attached my credit card statement that shows the double charge.
Please let me know how and when do I get the refund?

I quickly checked and nobody by that name stayed with me. Then I realized, MISTER Tanya? I don't think so. Finally, I looked at the filename of the attached file: a long series of numbers ending with "PDF.HTML".

Yes, very clever because anybody would say, yes, that MAY have happened and I need to look into it immediately.

I bet hotels fall for this

Yes. A small innkeeper would pretty quickly question this. But hotels are too busy to know every guest. I sure wonder where that HTML address led!

Hello Four days ago my boyfriend and I ate at your restaurant. I used my debit/credit card to pay for 66.84 plus an 8 dollar tip. Yesterday morning when I checked my account, I had the transaction charged twice. I have attachaed my bank statement that shows the double charge. Plase let me know how and when do I get the second charge credited back to me? Thank you Mr Harper Wade

yeah pretty easy to see the fraud at my "restaurant"

and it was to an email account I don't have visible many places. So I could waste time working it out but then I would give in to the spam devil.

Even around here, that's a cheap tip. You would think that you would want to appear generous, not a cheapskate, when you are trying to rip people off.

Lots of people around here (not me!) still leave 10%, which would have been $6.60. They'd be surprised to see someone give $8!
