I am getting a lot of hits from many countries (Turkey, Brazil, and more) coming from a site called
make- money- online dot 7mak e- mone y-on line dot com. I am not about to click on it to find out what it is because I do not know how to protect my computer. Maybe I will go to the Library tomorrow afternoon. Is anyone else getting this one? That I really wonder is what kind of site it is.

Gillum, I haven't heard of this one but I do get a lot of junk email, especially on the office computers. they're always trying to get you.
I recommend you install two things on your computer. ccleaner and malwarebytes. the free versions. Also ad-aware. the free version There is also AVG free antivirus. I suggest these free versions because I don't know your budget. ad-aware may conflict with AVG so it would install as second line of defense, but deselect the options for toolbars and things.
Are you running a mac or a pc? They are more friendly to pc's than to mac's in my experience ... I run them both before i shut down my computer at night. and the malwarebytes pulls all kinds of junk out sometimes. Go to download dot com for these programs. The only caution is you don't want extra things, if you're offered toolbars and search engines ... so you want to custom install them and deselect and decline other things.

This is a new way to promote low quality websites, bots that simulate referrer visitors to different websites.
They hit tens of millions of websites daily, hoping that website administrators will notice traffic coming from those domains and would go and visit them, to see what the deal is.
This is just a way to promote websites, I don't think the idea is to install malware.

I will have Dusty come in and "clean" me and install . I have something on there but have no clue what it is. The guy who set up my computer did put protection in there. It runs every night.
It is not that I do not have anti-virus, I just would not have a clue how to fix things if I were to let the "genie out of the bottle".

okay - whatever runs doesn't ask if you want to delete or quarantine things? i wonder what it is.

That is why after Christmas I am going to get Dusty in. HE knows what is and will fix me up. I finally have someone I know and trust who is OT going to move away. Dusty is head honcho at Public Works here - he took over when his Dad retired last year and has brought the Public Works Dept into the 21st Century. And he LIKES me!

I do as another poster said and have several other programs to scan as well. They are set to only scan when manually requested so they do not interfere with your regular anti-virus 24/7 protection. But, you'll be surprised what each will find that the others missed. I have Malwarebytes, SpyBot and SUPERAntispyware.
My computer guy who installed these programs also installed instruction sheets on how to properly install and configure each program so it will not interfere with the other anti-virus that runs 24/7. If anyone wants that instruction page for any of the above mentioned programs, I'd be happy to share. Let me know.

Two more after posting this earlier.
