Several years ago when we vacationed in Italy we visited a town about the size of our town in America, with a similar name to ours, and with a city hall that had the same Italianate windows and architecture as the courthouse in the center of our town (Italy had the style first, of course). The town was on a hill like ours, and their town church looks very much like our town's Catholic church.
When I got home I had our mayor write their mayor, mentioning and showing photos of all our similarities with them, and asking them to be our "twin city". I followed up with letters to their chamber of commerce and tourism bureau.
Never got a word of reply. But it was fun dreaming of visitor exchanges for a while!

I looked up Odd, WV. It is near Ghent and Flat Top (southern WV).
The city where I went to high school has a sister city - Toronto, Ohio and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

And then there's towns that are at the other end of the spectrum... We almost set up camp in Dildo, Nfld. Very pretty spot on the ocean and no lack of tourist traffic, believe me. And, all our guests want to at least drive through and get an appropriate t-shirt for their kids back home. I just couldn't bring myself to make that move. "Hi, welcome to Dildo. I hope you enjoy your stay at our B&B" Just couldn't picture it.
This has been inserted after I saw my posting. It seems that this webpage found the name of this town offensive. Funny. This town was called this 'appliance' hundreds of years before people applied this term to something a little more kinky. Wow, the adult content screen is set high on this page, haha.
