Question, do you guys do anything special for Valentines Day? For those of you in small towns if you do a package do you get any locals looking for a nice get-a-way from the kids for the night? I know the hubby and I did a one night for NYE at a B and B about two hours away from home.

We are going BOGO the entire month of love.
V-day on a weekend this year you will be sure to get some bookings. But it is supposed to be a man's thing, excuse this part men, all of your gay and straight - - men are supposed to do something special, so for that if it were me I would do something that the men can "Click=buy" done. Flowers, champers, or whatever you can do there. Men will buy an all in one getaway, since they are on the hook, about this.
Just being honest innies.

Special Packages..yes.
Provided dozen roses, valentine box full of candy, cake in their room, bottle of champagne or sparkling cider. We always had folks purchase this when they stayed for Valentines.
NO LOCALS ever!

Tried in the past with little result due to location. I do have one up now since it is a 3-day weekend with my 3rd night special in effect. My NYE for 2015 will be touting a QUIET Place to go. My locals are, for the most part, not going to pay for a bed locally when they have one at home. Like you did for NYE, they are going to GO some place else for the getaway. I have a 25th anniversary coming next month - but that is so no matter what she is getting something special as she can if necessary, WALK to my B & B. Snow up to the knees last year for her anniversary made that decision.

Yes, typically have packages for Valentines Day... similar to what Empty Nest stated.
We have had locals, not only for V Day but for other times when they need a break but can't leave the area.

Years ago we had fresh flowers and candy in every room. Then we started getting a lot of weather-related cancellations where we were stuck with very expensive flowers and chocolates that were of no use the next weekend so we stopped.
We have addon pkgs on the website and booking engine, and I ask if there is anything they need in the confirmation. Nothing. Nada. Zip.
Most of our guests for this weekend are repeats so they bring along everything they want.

We used to do this, but now I figure why bother with extra work for one of the busiest weekends of the year? I know I'm going to book rooms for that time anyway.
