It's time for the annual mid-winter slump. Got off to a great start on a series of projects then got sidetracked by family illness and a wedding. Going back to see sick family member in a few days.
Now have no energy at all.
Christmas decor is still waiting to be put away. Rooms last occupied in December are still unmade. Nothing done on website. Falling behind on blogging again. It's all hanging over my head.
Luckily, this was not a big project month. Still. I'm exhausted. This month has been all externally driven. Haven't done anything I *want* to do.
End of gripe.

sometime when I feel that way, wine helps.
:)
Seriously, take a break. Make a deadline to start the chores and in the meantime, watch a movie, do a puzzle, take a road trip, read a book, relax. You have earned it.

You are having the adrenalin crash. I did mine in December. I am now gearing up for Feb which is 2 Conferences and Tourism Day and Himself has thrown in a bit of a monkey wrench that may change how things play out. This weekend I will have the families back who were here in September for the parents' 50th anniversary. Now it is for her funeral.

It is hard to get motivated without a looming deadline. I find a list helps.

You need and deserve some serious down time with no distractions. I find that one week of giving myself permission to just veg out eventually produces boredom that fuels my desire to get involved in a project.
Not much you can do about family demands, however. Life just keeps coming at us!

I find myself in the same situation when there are no major projects. It's easy to procrastinate the small stuff. Oh, I'll do it later.
Make a list of small stuff and just do 1 thing a day.

hmmmm ... is the heat on in the rooms? time to sleep in them! :)
no, really.

Totally agree with BeachHouse. We've just had a week in our house- Netflix, Movies and Internet catch up. We are now having a long weekend away and I have to say that I am now ready to get back into the projects. :)

no, really..
Another reason I have no desire to do anything - it's freezing over in the inn!

Understand this, could not can not bare the cold and I hate turning on the heat just for ME.

at my place, each room had its own thermostat so it could be done ...

I can turn it on room by room. Just freezing to get to the room! I'm just being lazy.
I did make a list. Then spent 3 hours doing something on the website I hadn't planned. Just realized, duh, that everything said '2014'. All better now.

Take a deep breath....let it out slowly. Now say out loud, "I will do it tomorrow." Then spent the time until "tomorrow" relaxing and building up your energy with no guilt or nothing "hang over your head". When "tomorrow" comes make a list of what needs to be done. Write each thing separately. (Example: Don't write clean guest rooms, instead write them each down. So you clean one room and cross it off.) Pick one thing, do it, and cross it out. If you still have the energy level do another thing, pick another job. Stop before you get tired. If you do something that needed done but not on the list, write it down and cross it off. (Example: read innspiring, write article on innspiring.) As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in one day" and your work won't be done in a day either. At the end of the day look at what been crossed out and be happy! Don't worry about the rest, it will all got done, one step at a time.
Hint- don't blog until you are in a happy, upbeat mood and want to write especially if it's for your business.
Until then enjoy your break!!!!!!

My to do list is headed: Things to do next week.
That way I feel like if I get something done today, I'm ahead of the game.
Right now I have to write a short bio for a festival I'm in. It's due tonight. Along with the short story I'm reading for the festival. I still have 3 hours. ;-)

you know what i find helps - whether it actually does or just because I believe it does - Cod Liver Oil - one tablet a day and I find my mind focuses better.

Remember this quote: "Once begun is half done."~ Mary Poppins. That being said, I'm a big fan of enjoying the down time when you can. Read a good book. Write. Visit with friends and stay extra long if their homes are really warm. :)

I feel it too...was going full steam before the holidays and now I realize that it's almost the end of January! What the?!
Believe it or not, even here, the cold, damp, and cloudy winter months can drag a person down.
We are trying to get everything done to get a house ready to sell next month and have been stalled by the weather. Also, like you, I don't like heating up a whole house to do work over there. :-(
Hang in there, enjoy a short break...
Cheers! ;-)
