I looked at this two ways - it's hilarious, but could be a wee bit irritating. I think all parties involved were aware that they were all just poking fun at each other, so I'm choosing to appreciate it for the humor it brought me this morning. Enjoy :)

Good for a chuckle, but certainly a reason why we don't contact the guests with open ended options...
However, as a hotel concierge, I would totally be into doing stuff like that. Because I could go home at night and laugh about it, get 16 hours off premises and come back refreshed in the morning for another round.
And no Raising Arizona? How could she miss that?

I did enjoy! It's good for people to have fun...when they have time!

One of our regulars arrived to check in one evening and said "Sorry, can't chat, the Great British Bake Off is on tv soon and I don't want to miss it" and quickly disappeared off to her room.
The following day I made chocolate tea cakes from that nights program and left a couple in her room with a label saying "As Seen On The Great British Bake-off".
She was so pleased and never forgot that.

Yes! That!

that is funny ... but so strange. i like better saying 'ooh, i just love chocolate chip cookies' or something and having those appear in my room. so i love the british bake off idea.
when i had a guest stay with me who went crazy for maple cream (which is decadent --- whipped maple syrup) i gave him a little jar to take home to london. then we had to find some bubble wrap so it would be safe in his suitcase. he sent me a lovely thank you note which was nice.

We had a guest stay with us last fall that expressed a desire for all-you-can-eat crab. Just isn't anything like that around. I guess with all the seafood in the area, no one is interested in the off season. So, my husband contacted a neighbour down the road who is a crab fisherman and asked if he had any. He did ( he also sells it commercially) and arranged to buy some. We only had this one guest at the time, so we were able to do two big crab feeds for him. No fuss, just crab and a little butter. He was ecstatic and gave us such a nice TA review. This was so easy that my husband wants to offer this to other guests. So, just doing something a little extra for a guest will now give my DH a little extra spending money!

Yes, I'd do it... but I'd be convinced the lady was a total nut job and I would tip toe passed her room each and every time.
