We're on a septic system so no steam dryer for us. I still like creases in the sheets and pillow cases, though I will be doing this ice cube trick on wrinkled garments of guests. Great trick!

the idea of putting my things on the highest heat setting in the dryer doesn't appeal to me. but i have spritzed things with water and let them dry a bit to de-wrinkle, so i'll try the ice cubes on a lower setting. as long as they don't have that weird freezer smell that i hate.

5 minutes. Just 5 minutes. Don't worry. A lower setting for such a short time won't give you the steam effect.

I've done something like this for year, but instead of using ice I've used a damp washcloth or hand towel. Works great.

Has anyone invested in one of these?.

I had one of these babies, but they don't make them any more: Ironrite mangle
I loved it, because I believed in all-cotton sheets and they needed to be ironed. It took up about the same amount of space as the ironing board - a little wider but not as long. About the size of a medium desk. You can find vintage ones on ebay or at local auction houses - they are too heavy to ship, so find one locally. When you transport it, you cannot lay it down or the oil will mess up the roller.
Pillowcases go on folded in half, flat sheets lengthwise in quarters. The real space issue is a folding table but that is something you need no matter what, unless you are able to wash, dry and make directly on the bed. Never was able to do that.
Miele makes new ones and they sometimes demo them at B&B conferences.
