Not so sure I would use the term elegant, but hey to each his own and I guess "the unit" it odor free:

I just was in a guest room who checked out...therefore the reason for this post.

I don't have room for them. If you have plastic liners in your trash cans I don't get why guests don't preemptively wrap up the stinky stuff.
And lets not forget finding diapers UNDER the bed when cleaning.

agreed Mort, and a reminder to why we always need spare liners beneath the liner.

we have a litter genie and i love it. i was amazed that it traps the odors in there.
is this a diaper genie type disposal unit for incontinent supplies? that would be a good thing to have here as long as it's big enough to accommodate her used items. their bathroom is small but i'll figure out something. i'm going shopping for one right this minute!

okay, it looks like it would have to replace the trash can that is currently in the bathroom because of space issues ... but that's no problem.
the problem is going to be explaining the purchase (i'll pay for it) without hurting people's feelings for a 'non issue'

so wrong on so many levels. thrown under the bed?
we had a british lord stay with us who would step out of them on the floor and leave them there. the chambermaids freaked and refused to handle them. i took over the clean up each morning .... put on disposable gloves and into the trash the pants went, tied the bag and dropped that bag into a bigger bag. dropped in the gloves. tied that bag. scrubbed hands. then i'd proceed with the regular cleaning of his room. every morning, same routine. all week long.
why he could not drop them into the trash himself i don't know. i even put a small trash bin with a liner in it beside the bed near where he was dropping the pants. made no difference.
he knew his room was freshened each day, he knew the bed linens and all were changed out every 3rd day. he knew people saw whatever he left around. didn't seem phased in the least. he should have brought his valet or whatever.
ps he left quite a large tip when he checked out and i claimed it.

I had the forum on in the kitchen while I was working today and DH read this and said "some said lord may find a present under his pillow"...
This only after he let out some sort of inaudible noise, always shocked at what we discuss on the forum and why he doesn't go there... but when I handed him the garbage yesterday I said would you mind running this out to the bin. ?Puzzled, why the urgency? (scuse the pun)

I suppose not as fancy a property as some of yours or maybe I just have a bad attitude, I take the position that I'm the motel maid, I'm not mama or someone's personal caretaker. I expect to empty the trash, replace towels and supplies and make the bed "if possible", not my place to pick up clothes and repack the suitcase or handle a guest's electronics that are often scattered about the room. Of course we may have four or five guests in a room which crowds it a bit.

That's all we should have to do. Wondering what would have happened had the diaper not been thrown out on day 1. If it had been left to rot.
However in another long stay situation we had a mother put all of her kid's pee soaked clothing in a pile on the carpet. This after hiding it somewhere for 6 days. I couldn't leave it there to completely soak into the floor beneath so I packed it all in a garbage bag and tossed it in her open suitcase.

No need to explain. I'm sure the guests won't mention. I wouldn't either.

yes, i did not want urine to cause a stain or odor on the hardwood floor where the used items were dropped. i can't imagine going in after a week to a pile of them or of them dropped in various places around the king size bed. ugh and how to make the bed without having to kick the offending item(s) off to the side.
it's just ... disrespectful ... really. disrespectful of the b&b and of the people who own and work there and of himself, to have so little care of leaving offensive items like that
angry_smile.gif

in my case, he was there to attend a wedding and people fawned over him. calling him lord soandso and picking him up and driving him here and there and being super attentive and deferential... and all i could think of was the 'debris' he left lying on the guestroom floor each morning. he had no class.
oh, morticia, i remember that. he had a real problem and destroyed your mattress, didn't he? and the grandparents paid to replace it without a whimper i think ?
