I find it really confusing to come in and read new comments in old threads. If the original conversation is a couple years old ( or more ) and someone wakes it up and responds to comments made back then, it throws me. I'd much prefer a new thread.
Am I alone in feeling this way?

That's the joy of being a newbie! It's all new! But it is confusing when I'm reading something and see the date or a person I never heard of before.

It depends. If the new posts are on topic, and continue thoughts discussed in the old thread, it may be better to continue an old one. It seems better to have 3 or 4 threads on pillows than 30 different ones.
And where do you draw the line? Is a thread that hadn't been active in a month off limits to continue discussing? Probably not. But how about 3 months?
I think it depends on how well new comments fit with what was being discussed.
Since I click to go straight to the new comments I haven't seen before on a thread, I generally don't see the old stuff unless I purposefully go back and review.

First thing I check is the date. Then I don't respond twice because I think a topic is new. Altho, you can look to see if the topic is labeled 'new' or 'updated' if that will help you.

I agree with Seashanty, I hate necroposting.

Duff where is your avatar image? :)
It doesn't worry me. One part of me wants old dogs to lie, the other part likes to keep the convo together.

All is still new to me, but with certain topics I would rather have a new thread because some information might be outdated, especially when it comes to electronics, or topics regarding computer systems or even websites and booking systems.
I have been reading a lot here in this forum and even go back several years, but then I wonder if the vendors mentioned back then do even exist now and if the quality is still as good as mentioned before?

I don't mind people reviving old threads, although I do think it would be nice if the person who brings the thread back acknowledges in their post that it is an old thread...
