Nearing the time to start the free trials and figuring out the booking aspect of a B&B. I read a number of posts on usage of Rezkey. Some of it is a few years old, and a lot of functionality has likely been added. And I probably did not grasp some of the details, since I have not done booking in the past (although I was a landlord for a number of years). I am really impacted by the depth of knowledge and experience of this B&B community. So:
1) I assume RezKey and MyAllocator have a number of pre-set values to cover the vanilla booking experience.
2) But I would appreciate your top 2-3 tips on tweaking or customizing Rezkey (and/or MyAllocator) with OTAs to the realities of a soon-to-be harried innkeeper in 2015. The less errors, oversights and ignorance I would have to work through, the better!

No matter what rez software you get you'll need to spend time setting it up. What are your prices? Do they change by room or season? Are all your rooms the same, can they be grouped together so you set 2 prices instead of 6?
You'll need that info before you can start to set up any booking engines.
Will you be offering additional services? How much for those? Will you allow guests to book those services online?

OK
Prices in beginning will be simpler, until learn what market and competitors do.
Will determine first price set (weekdays, weekends, high, low seasons) based on somewhere in the middle of the several resorts and B&Bs in the area.
Then I will apply a reasonable set of prices based on individual room size/amenities.

Thanks for posting things to watch out for Morticia!
We went w/ something off the beaten path though;
Company called Lodger Software is offering beta version of their software for free. Seems to work (used for a month) it's free if you signup as a "beta user". Recommend.

Not sure if I would recommend a business that registered their domain barely 5 months ago and sell a B&B service while their own website is incomplete and still uses filler content blocks from the template.
I wonder how you found them (and found us) to quickly recommend them...

Nowhere on the site is any information about how the guest's confidential information is secure. There isn't a test model to look at. Everything is 'awesome' without any details.
Hard to believe it's really 'everything you need to build a bed and breakfast'. If all I needed was software...

this is a typical drive-by spamming. They refer to one of the posters with a canned response and stick in mention/link to a product or service.
I reported it, but surprised forum owner not delete it.

Not everything gets deleted. Notice how it's been pointed out this does not seem to be a viable option for innkeepers. Sometimes making an example is helpful.

Notice also that the live link that was in the original post has been made dead, too.
