from JB - this is where I insert - you need to add to your list of goals to meet an innmate or two this year. We recently had a cherished innmate from this forum of many years die. Yes, she is gone, and I never had the chance to meet her in person, and when I read her posts on this forum when the old ones are dredged up it makes me smile, and get sad.

My dear friend and now former City Manger retired in December. She is taking this year to figure out what she wants to do when she grows up and to plan (and for me to save up for it). She wants to see the ocean and as she puts it, "You are the only one I know who will take me to see the ocean." (She is directionally challenged and knows better than to go by herself.)
I have told her to choose what she would like to see/do and we will do the Atlantic first on a 2-week odyssey and then a 3-week to the Pacific. I have friends & family all over the Country, but she knows I also want to meet innmates along the way. Consider this "Fair Warning".

Family in Washington and hoped to see you too. Also have stops in Merced and in Sacramento (family). Plan north route out and south back with a few zig-zags in the middle.

But, but,......I had my own iceberg for two weeks in my backyard last spring, lol!

As a survivor of the Innspiring Roadtrip, I heartily endorse meeting and putting a face to my forum buddies. It's always an adventure when Innmates meet.

Adventure. Received an envelope today from one of the younger grands. His class read Flat Stanley. I now have a Flat Stanley to go on adventures with me for as long as I want. (I'd love to hand him off to the uncle in Vegas but that might be too much.)
My inner child is dancing. I've fitted him up so he can stand on his own and we're off to see the sights.
(Because I am an over achiever, not only has FS sent a postcard to the kids at school, he's started his own blog.)

THAT is cool. What a wonderful Grandma you are.
We had guests with FS a few years ago. They took photos of him on our sign and then went off to PA without him. They were from Florida. t must have been 2003 because they were re-creating the Lewis & Clark and they re-creation was going to be stopping in Wheeling as they had (the only member of the party to do the entire trip in both directions was from Wellsburg, WV where he - Patrick Gas is buried). We took FS with us and photoed him there in the exhibit, with Patrick Gas' descendant who was "doing" him, with the Indian scout, etc. The next day the then Governor was making a presentation in the big city north of us and we took photos of him holding FS (yes, he held FS for a photo shoot).
After I had the film developed, I contacted the guest to ask where she wanted the photos sent. She was not interested, said to chuck FS - until I told her we had photos of him with the Governor. THEN she wanted them. Tht is my FS story.
