"Another twist is that privacy came second to internet in this particular ranking. Another common theme in the “targeting Millennials” rulebook is that this demographic covets large social spaces over large rooms. This means that the rooms can get smaller while the social areas grow. While “privacy” is a broad term that also could mean a desire to simply escape, there is still nonetheless an innate desire for privacy within this demographic."

Thank goodness. I can stop thinking about providing everything in house except some space to relax.

This is about Millennial travelers and not about millennials in general. Are they the no college software engineer making $150K? Then that is our millennial niche. Are they the millennial college graduate that ended up an assistant manager at target? then not so much.

That's our market - the manager at target, the school teacher in the less profitable state, the under $100k traveler with the 7-8 year old car.
The majority of our guests' combined income is under $100k. We get the outliers every once in awhile. The guy who owns a multi national corporation, retired business owners, but they're the minority.

Some of it has to do with our location. I think our ADR for the state was around $250. That makes our destination less likely for the budget traveler, although it can be done. Pushing ourselves up the scale makes it possible to make a go of it. When our five year plan comes to fruition, I think about a different style of place that would take us into retirement. Maybe a bit like what Arks does.

Ours is less than half that. That may be why your state is a 'once in a lifetime' trip for many and mine is a yearly family trip.
