Another unusual observation from your favorite observant innkeeper JB:
6 guest rooms with 12 people total and not one of them took cream in their coffee this morning.

We've had mornings where no one had coffee! Tea or juice. It's really rare.

We had people from Utah one morning... not a cup of coffee. I had to personally "recycle" it all... I spent an extra 20 minutes running to the bathroom :)

Since most of my reservations in the off season are usually just weekends, I keep buying fresh cream (a small one), but nine time out of ten, they're drinking it black or using milk.
I of course I drink mine black. Forces me to bake something yummy.

Very unusual! We get a lot of people who want really strong coffee, then pour so much cream in it it's not recognizable as coffee anymore.

Around here we call them Northerners. :)

Our creamer is in an old fashioned pint milk bottle. I've watched guests barely tip it and then look disconcerted - oh that's too much. Then they want to start over. With a new cup. What's the friggin' sense?
Interestingly, most of the time the other half will say, "I'll drink it," like this happens a lot and not just with coffee.

When DH checks in guests he tells them that the early coffee is put out at 7 am and asks for their preference (regular or decaf) and what they take in their coffee (black, milk 1/2 + 1/2). If no one take the cream we don't put it out so as to not waste it. The milk always goes out because we can recycle it to our own breakfast if it is not used.
This works well for us especially on the occasions like you had this morning JB, where not one guest used the dairy. But of course, we are 1/2 your size and have a bit more time to fiddle with the differences in our guests to minimize waste. A larger inn has no choice but to put it all out and take what comes.

We keep a pint in the guest fridge for evenings. There is also a quart of milk.
In the morning we put the creamer in a bowl of ice.
How many people look right past the creamer (sign and all) on the counter, next to the coffee, and go for the fridge? Too many.
My dad tells me to leave them alone, don't be so picky, they're not awake and haven't had their coffee.

Especially when you can have one guest use an entire creamer full. You never know.

That's here. At least once/week someone will pour the whole bottle of creamer into their cereal. The whole bottle! Even if it was milk you don't need 16 ozs of milk for a 1 oz box of cereal.

I learned something this weekend from a tea drinking guest.
She asked for a regular tea bag.
I provided the tea selection and she again asked for regular tea, this time saying no herbals.
I pulled out an Earl Gray. She said that wasn't regular. Humm
Pulled out a Lipton, no that wasn't regular either.
She finally pulled out an English Breakfast Tea.
Here it is! So if someone asks for regular tea you now know

.
And no she was not British or European for that matter. Ohio!

That's silly.

English Breakfast is our most popular tea.
Most commented on tea is our Maple Flavored Tea.

I have it, but she has to make her own tea bag - it is loose tea - and yes, I HAVE make your own tea bags available

English breakfast, Irish breakfast and Earl Grey. I know zip about tea, same as what I know about coffee. The only tea I like is the high test you get overseas and Lapsang Souchong.

I can't even be in the same room as Lapsang Souchong, I can't take the smell.
Our biggest seller lately is Breakfast is Paris. I swear if they renamed it Breakfast in Detroit... no one would drink it.

I recently had "Buckingham Palace Garden Party" Tea. It tasted lovely. I usually see nothing in teas but this was something I would love to have again.
