I was reading an article on crazy cupcakes and one was maple bacon. I thought that sounds like a great idea for a B&B.
Does anyone serve bacon muffins or bacon cupcakes or coffee cake?
I am going to try this weekend with basic muffin mix and add some maple syrup and bacon to the mix. Better or tried and true ideas?
 
Watch out for the frosting if you're doing that. It's wicked sweet. I didn't care for them.
 
I was thinking of no frosting. Just a muffin with maple and bacon added in. Has anyone tried anything like that?

They sell them at Kane's Donuts in Saugus MA. I bought two last week, one for me one for a friend. They are one of the most popular donuts they offer right now. The donut has a bit of maple syrup in the batter, the frosting is maple and that is bacon on the top. I have a real sweet tooth so of course I love them. But luckily I'm not in the area too often!

wow. drooling. I think I'm going to give it a try this weekend.
are you on Cape Cod? You probably know but I'm on Cape Ann.

We have a famous donut shop in Portland and are known for their maple bacon bars. They are my favorite! For muffin, I probably would do a regular muffin and put a maple glaze on top and top it with very crispy bacon. An ode to Voo Doo

Sorry but none of these has any appeal to me. Bacon is just a waste of calories. I'd rather give in to chocolate for my calories :)
 
EN - chocolate covered bacon is all the rage around here. I'm not even going there!

Choosing between chocolate and bacon? Oooooooo - too hard a choice, but definitely NOT going with chocolate covered bacon. Each stands alone.
 
No muffins as of yet -- but guests love my bacon cheddar waffles served with fresh strawberries and our fabulous maple syrup. Only works if you have no vegetarians of course.
 
I've recently started making maple bacon muffins and they have been a huge hit. All I would say is use lots of bacon and real maple syrup. It started when I was looking for some gluten free muffin options. They seemed simple enough so I gave it a shot. They're usually the first thing people go for.
