Website Bio Pages: Stop Hiding Your Face!
Excerpt:
Just over a week ago, I started offering a Free Small Business Website Analysis to my readers, and the response has been awesome thus far. I've literally been talking to business owners and entrepreneurs all over the world in an effort to help them enhance their website and fully grasp what Web 2.0 is all about.
Who's the face of your business?
Although most of these business websites share similar issues and weaknesses, there is one surprising weakness I’ve seen thus far on just about everyone’s site, which is the fact that they all lack a face.

Very good. I just made a couple of changes on my own About page to make it a little more casual and friendly. The introduction on the About page really does lay the groundwork for a good guest visit.

Agreed. We made a point of including our pictures on our new website. Anecdotally, I would say it has impacted guest expectations favorably. It allows potential guests to tie our reviews to our pictures and our plans for the future. People arrive with a familiarity and I think that contributes a lot to their ability to settle in quickly.

People are always commenting on our candid shots and believe it or not, quite a few of our guests comment on our mini bio. They'll come in and say, "So, your husband was born over there...." He feels like a minor celebrity!

I only fit in pictures in landscape mode.
I have to admit that my facebook picture is quite handsome. Of course only those who have seen it will get that joke.

The one fingernail I can see does look clean and trimmed.

See I am a bit wary of this as we are a younger couple 32 and 29 respectively - I worry as I get enough people who can't believe I am the owner or can possibly manage etc without putting them off already -
What do people think?

That's been your experience so I wouldn't put a photo, but a blurb about your 10+ years of experience in hospitality and maybe some interests you have outside the biz would work. Something personal.

Could try dressing up in some historical clothing for a sepia-toned photo -- make yourselves look "old" in a fun kind of way....

Or maybe a nice photo would invite great guests! Old fogy sour puss looking hosts would put me off! Not the opposite.
I think NOT sharing is a huge mistake. I will say it again and again, so I better shut up now. :) I
