Had a lady book a month ago with 3 horses. Last week, I took some people out to see the barn and there was a BOAT in the stable. Thursday I called the farmer to remind him we had 3 horses coming on Tuesday. He did not seem to think that was a problem. Grr #1.
Today I go lead her out to the stable. The doors are closed. I say to her, "I HOPE he removed the boat." I slide the doors open and find, not only is the boat still in the back of the stable, but NOW there is a tractor with one wheel off and spikes sticking out of the back of it to pick up bales of hay. Lethal looking suckers. a if THAT was not enough, the horse she had taken off the trailer sees the camel and hears the donkey and she is having NONE of any of this.
We finally entice Punjab and Eore into their building out of sight and the horse went back on the trailer. That poor lady is lucky enough to have found another place to stay tonight - 3 hours further down the road. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, you just heard my primal scream.

Wow. Nobody happy in this scene. What a crappy day. Let us know what happens with the barn owner.

What was he thinking?

I think he was doing what everyone does in West Virginia - help a friend. From what he said "it was supposed to be a 5 minute job and was supposed to be done yesterday" I do not think it was his tractor. I just sent her an e-,ail expressing concern for the stress of last night and offering her a 50% discount if she chooses to visit in the next 12 months.
She said she came from a farming area and understood the neighbor helping neighbor (she heard the farmer about the tractor - and he DID drive over to see if a neighbor had barn space and the answer was no).

Thank goodness she understood. I am sure she will be back.

She e-mailed back that she appreciated my concern. She said if she came back it would probably be without horses. Sigh.
